I passed REG, and FAR, I used Roger Review and Wiley CD. I can’t see to pass AUD and BEC, I took each few times, and I get a score between 70-74!!! ugggg. PLEASE HELP.

Does anyone have any advice especially since the new format is coming up? I’m really used to the Roger format, and all my knowledge and info comes from Roger, but it seems that I know all the MC already?

Will the new Wiley new CD help, or do I get a new book and study the material in a different format?

I don’t know what to do, I need to pass in the next 2 months………..HELP

    Thanks

I hope I could give you some advice, but I used Becker 2010 material.

For AUD, you need to know the reports very well. Like how the wording changes when different situations come up-going concern, using work performed by another CPA, using a specialist, disclaimer, qualified, etc. Also, the assertions you need to know very well.

    BEC - May 8, 2010 - 83
    FAR - July 20, 2010 - 75
    AUD - Aug 27, 2010 - 76
    REG - Nov 20, 2010 - 88 ALL DONE!!!

I took AUD and BEC using Becker 2010 material too. I strongly suggest doing ALL the homework MCQs more than once. Take the simulated exams more than once so that it gives you a wider array of questions you might see on the actual exam. I saw quite a few questions from the homework on the exam itself.

    Hope this helps.

Since you passed REG, what advice would you give on tackling this section? I seem to have a hard time understanding the concept of property transactions.

    FAR (5/27/10) - 87
    REG (8/27/10) - 66, (2/25/11) - 74, (4/21/11) - 85
    BEC (10/28/10)- 83
    AUD (11/27/10)- 83, CA Candidate NTS#452, Ethics: 90

    Thanks for the advice.

I looked over Becker books and it's so complicated than what I'm used to, it really throws me off….I don't have the Becker MC, I used Wiley, but I'm thinking of getting something different, maybe a cram course and new MC……I did so many MC….I get a really high score of the sections I did bad, and the sections I did good before I do soo bad….I don't know why.

I used Roger for REG, I loved it, I think it's very well written and organized, the Wiley CD was great too. I think Roger explains it very detailed and easy to understand….try him

I used cpareviewforfree site (only the free questions). The questions and explanations are very good and give you that different perspective. I heard Roger review is very good so you are probably in good shape, just need to try again. I know 70-74 sucks. All of my scores ever gotten were between 70 and 80. You should take both exams next window and hope for the best.

Have you looked at your performance analysis? That would be helpful. After determining your weak areas create a plan that helps you nail down a few points in the weak areas and review your other areas as well. For my review of BEC I used Yaeger and Becker and passed. Just make sure you review everything. If you just study for the last test – the next test wil be different.

For audit Becker with Gleim testbank was a good combination.

Read both the correct and incorrect responses. There is a lot of information in the answers.

    Good luck!

Thanks….I do look at my analysis and do better the second time I take the weak areas and do worse in my strong areas from before. I think I'm just missing some kind of an element, and I'm not getting in from Roger. I keep studying the same material and doing the same MC.

I was thinking of doing the Yaeger cram class for AUD and BEC, is it helpful? Which MC can I do? I can't do Becker because I'm not signed up with them. Can I buy their MC separate or should I get the new Wiley?

I highly recommend cpareviewforfree.com. I failed REG and FAR (72 on both) the first time with Becker. I think the main reason was because I was studying for 2 parts at once. The 2nd time around a studied for 1 part at a time, skipped the lectures and only read the chapters several times, did my Becker MCQ's and read each answer and explanation, and also utilized cpareviewforfree. Some of their explanations were better than Becker. I retook the exams and made a 81 on FAR and an 86 on REG.

    Thanks

    I'll look into it.

I spoke with Bisk today, thinking of getting them. Starting a new lecture, new way of teaching and new set of multiple choice…I keep getting the same score for several times….

I have to try something new

You may consider the Wiley textbook and then a testbank – Gleim or Wiley. Whichever format you like better.

For the retake of BEC – Cindy does a great job on the Cost and Finance section of the BEC exam. I had trouble in the cost portion – but listened to her Cost and Finance portion of the Yaeger material and it was very helpful. Increased my score by about 10 points.

I don't mean to brag here, but I find both AUD and BEC to be easy; FAR – difficult and REG – insanely difficult (due to lots of factors).

Seeing that you've already passed both FAR and REG, I want to encourage you: AUD and BEC are very doable. If you'd be able to get BECKER for AUD, then you'll definitely pass AUD on the very first try. (I've studied AUD for 4.5-5 weeks: textbook, homework MCQs). In my case, some 40-45% of the MCQs on tha-a-at day were exactly from the Becker's testbank of MCQs. Word by word! Beware that AUD is the trickiest of all four exams. Becker teaches you how to spot those traps.

BEC is a slightly different animal: some say it too easy, some say it's confusing (especially the cost accounting and finance stuff). I took some classes in both areas, thus I've spent only 2.5 weeks to prepare for BEC. But Becker makes everything even clearer; it gives you a “structure”! I don't particularly like everything about Becker (I had some software expiration problems with them), but Becker found the right key to unlock the code of the cpa exams.

I have to tell you that I'm a very slow test-taker, but I was able to finish the BEC exam with 40 min. to spare. The BEC part was not adaptive (which helped a lot!); I don't know about 2011 changes though.

So, find some Becker review textbooks and MCQs (even older versions) – and will forget about these exams very fast.

    DONE!

Buy the Yaeger audio course….and listen to it…listen to it…listen to it…

While driving, while exercising, while waiting in line, etc…..
