Just found out I passed my last test – woohoo! I printed out my application today and had completely forgotten about the stupid ethics thing. Not like it wasn’t tested on the exams!

Anyway, it looks like NC has us take a 8-hr CPE course through the state CPA Association. Only offered online as self-study. Does anyone know anything about it? I assume it’s timed, but is it a video lecture? Articles?

It looks like a lot of states have an exam – is there a test at the end of this course?

Not anxious, just curious. Gonna have to wait until the next pay day to figure out how to afford it, but that’s all fine too. I’ve pretty much accepted I’ll be throwing money at state CPA boards and societies for the rest of my life 🙂

REG took 2 tries but I finally got it in too!
I'm a hard convert - Using NINJA method with NINJA video/book/notes/MCQ

Experience: 3 months left! I hit 4 years on May 30 🙂

rahurst – i don't know how they do names at the meetings but i went back through old minutes today and found my name listed for the exams i have been approved to take. they handle some interesting cases and i would like to hear those discussions.

Hey everyone! Sorry for the delays – I took the weekend off and went to Disney to celebrate 🙂

@JMCAP – You have to submit your transcripts to take the exam because you have to meet the CONCENTRATION in accounting requirement prior to taking the exam. You don't have to have all 150 hours, just that concentration portion finished. I had a nightmare with it because I wound up 1 hour (or 0.25 credits) short and had to take a Quickbooks for Dummies class at a local CC, even though I have 2 degrees. Crazy.

Thanks for posting the Ethics course live dates. May is too long for me to wait also – I hit my 4 years experience on May 30 and plan on turning in the application on May 31 for the June board meeting. I think I'll take the self-study in the beginning of April. That gives me a few weeks to find the funds and lets me wrap up the course I'm taking and submit my final paper.

@moniker – I did my undergrad at Salem College in Winston-Salem. I'm getting my Masters in Forensic Accounting at the University of Charleston WV – I should graduate in December 🙂

So cool to get in touch with people in this area! I work in the Triad, but live in Burlington. My husband works in Hillsborough so we do get out to Durham/Raleigh occasionally. Not close enough to drop my apps off in person, though 🙂

PS – Did you all see there's now an online “check your application status” feature? I don't think that was on there the last time I checked…

Happy Monday all. I used to live up Walnut St just above Salem College and worked for Wachovia when it shared the center of W-S's universe with RJR. I was really young then!

I saw the new online feature on state board site and emailed to ask if they would start posting exam scores and expiration dates. I got the usual quick response, however, it was a no. Baby steps, I guess. I still feel very lucky to have these folks to work through. You really read some awful stories about delays and mixups in many other states. I have had nothing but great service from our state board staff.

The WVU professors have offered a free fraud course online through Coursera that I have been waiting to be offered again. I hope they will this summer.
