Hey guys, trying to post this again as the previous topic got closed because of a glitch in the system before I’ve got any answers.
So I’ve been reading through the work experience requirements for Maine and find them a bit confusing. The application form on the Board’s website only mentions the following:
“Your work experience must include the use of accounting or auditing skills, including the issuance of reports on financial statements, and at least one of the following: the provision of management advisory, financial advisory or consulting services; the preparation of tax returns; the furnishing of advice on tax matters; or equivalent activities defined by the Board.”
But, it does not mention any specific amount of hours that you need to spend during those 2 years doing audit work. Some unofficial websites, however, suggest that you need 400 hours in audit plus 200 hours in advisory. Can anyone please confirm if that’s true or not?
I work in tax, and was certainly hoping I could minimize the time spent on audit work, let alone advisory. I was hoping tax provision work (ASC 740) would qualify as I know in some states it’s treated as audit work for purposes of obtaining a CPA license. If someone was to share their experience that would be greatly appreciated.
