MA no longer issues non reporting CPA lincese. How does this change impact those already having non reporting license?

I'm pretty sure we'll be grandfathered, not sure if our license will convert on renewal but we'll still be licensed as long as we do cpe and pay the renewal fee.

Thanks for your reply. I assume the new rule will not impact us since we got the license under the old rules. Will be interesting to see whether they will convert to normal one.

Under the new rule we can get the full license if we can document 1 year of public accounting or 3 years of full time non-public acct experience.

The rules have changed many times over the years (at one time you didn't need a college degree at all as long as you could pass the exam) and people who were already licensed kept their license. I couldn't get licensed under the new requirements because none of my bosses have ever been CPA's.

My immidiate boss do not have CPA license. However, I know an active CPA in my organization. The problem however is that he is not my immediate supervisor. I believe there is some sort of flexibility in the new rule allowing board to approve any relevant accounting experience beyond entry level job.

I think they changed the rule to ensure that only people with relevant experience get CPA designation.

People with little to no experience should not get the CPA.

Well I agree but for people like me, who have been working in industry since before most people here were born just never in public, the non reporting license was our only opportunity because industry experience didn't count until these changes and I've got a hard time believing someone who graduated a year ago but happened to go into public was more “qualified” than me to be licensed.

I'm glad that I passed my CPA exam in 2016 and got licensed. It would be hard to get this under the new rules since my direct supervisor is not CPA.

BTW, which CPE provider you are using to complete CPE credits? I m considering CPEthink.com.

They have reasonable package price and variety of courses.

I've used both cpethink and cpedepot and been happy with both. Their course lists are very slightly different so I pick based on which courses interest me more at the time.
