I recently passed all 4 parts of the CPA exam and obtained a letter explaining my experience from my employer. I filled out the Louisiana application and sent it with the letter to the state board last week.

My question is: how long does it take for the board to review my application and issue a license to me? Do I have to wait until November when the board meets again or will they issue me a license before then?

It takes about 4 weeks for Louisiana to issue a license. I will admit that I stalked the license database for a few days. I sat for my last section 2/22. I got my score 3/8 and my license number showed up 4/3. I knew bnrhilton's license number before she did. When I saw that the numbers were going up I went into full cyber stalking mode! I didn't get the wall certificate until early in July. Well worth the wait!

That's sick! But we have a new Director. Mr. Henderson is retired and Clinton, who took over for Mr. Henderson, didn't get the director's job (he should have in my opinion). Maybe that's the hold up. But I sent my $100 for my license renewal on 12/31, the same day as my boss, and he's already gotten his letter saying his license has been renewed. I haven't gotten anything from them. The website is updated though. Have you checked the license database to see if your number has been issued?

@Riley, it took me about 4 months to get a letter from the state board stating that I was a CPA (August – November) and I am still waiting for my certificate. The last time I talked to Mr. Clinton, he said they were behind on a lot of things because they were short staffed. And I'm sure the holidays and all of the license renewals didn't help things out. You can always check the database on the website and you will know as soon as they certify you.
