Life post exam

Just thought I’d make a thread for updates on how life is after the exam. I didn’t want to clutter up the Alumni thread with non-licensing related stuff. 🙂

So my first “life” update: Everything is pretty much the same at work. Still super stressful. But it’s really nice not having to study after work. Now I mostly play video games (currently WoW and Rift) and watch TV shows in the time I used to spend studying. My house is also cleaner. Before my injury, I was also exercising a lot! I’ve lost 20 pounds so far.

But the most exciting news – my fiance got a really awesome job this week, which should make our lives so much better in several ways. He used to work from 2pm-7pm M-F, no benefits, and was totally bored while at work. Also that employer is a Newspaper and they are laying people off right and left. He just got hired to be a Computer Tech at a really awesome company, full time, better pay, with benefits, and will be working the same hours as me (except for on Friday since they all get off at 3pm.. lucky bastards). But now we can go to the gym together right after work or whatever. It’ll be great! And his work gives him a free gym membership and I can be added for $20…. much better than my work’s gym benefits. I’m so happy!

Also we are planning on trying to get pregnant towards the end of the year. Especially now that he’s going to have a stable job. I have had baby fever for a couple years now so I am really looking forward to this!

Enough about me – someone else post an update so that I don’t seem narcissistic. 🙂

    lol at “roller derby preggers.”

@kandis – Having your own child is the greatest experience in the world but OMFG it is so much work. lol. I definitely recommend it though. I am really excited for you. Sounds like everything is going great.

Haha – thanks guys! Yeah I'm going to stop skating when I get prego of course.. 🙂 Or maybe I could just be a really awesome derby player. If someone went to hit me I could just say “Wait! You'll hurt the baby!” 😉 And yes I am kidding.

That's what I hear Mini. I am a little intimidated at giving up most of my freedom to be lazy and put myself/my fiance first… But I know it'll be more than worth it.

How are you both doing? How are your families?

I'm good thanks. Trying to keep my mind busy because my boss told me yesterday that my department is being reorganized and I will be getting an offer that involves not working for him anymore. I love my job but loathe my boss so this couldn't be better news for me. I wish I knew the details.

If they don't spill the beans today I may burst.

I also started teaching community college one night a week. Scary stuff!

Mini, somehow you question that “greatest experience in the world” when they are teenagers. LMAO. Now I'm thinking military school would be the greatest experience in the world!

Wow, congrats on all fronts! It sounds like things are turning up kandis of late. Good luck with the baby making (definitely more fun than studies!).

My update: I passed my last exam just before performance review time and was promoted to analyst at my job as of year end which came with a nice bonus and a 10% raise. Compated to last year's 2% raise, this was a very welcome surprise! For the most part, it's the same job just a new title and pay (and I'm perfectly fine with that).

I finished the exam 20 lbs heavier, so my current project filling up my former study time is P90X. I just started the program yesterday and have been tracking my food on WeightWatchers and have lost about 4 lbs since the new year. Slow going, but I'm getting there. The overall goal is to lose my CPA weight (my equivalent of baby weight) plus 15 lbs.

Other than that, I've been reading like a maniac and getting back to leisurely watching TV. I feel like I only just recovered from the exhaustion within the last few weeks and I feel awesome (minus the extra fluff on my body). Hopefully by mid-May I'll be a P90X graduate!

Wow MLA, that's exciting and scary. I hope that it turns out for the best – let us know when you find out! How's teaching at a community college? I've thought about doing that…

@KasiaS – That's awesome! I did P90X for a while, and it was freakin' amazing. I lost a ton of inches and got really strong. I did it for a few months with my fiance, but then we both got the swine flu and that ended our P90X adventures… It felt like we were sick for EVER! Keep it up, it'll be totally worth it. I can still do “real” pushups because I did P90X, when most of my fellow derby girls have a hard time even doing “girl” pushups. The only thing that I really didn't like about P90X was YogaX… Come on, that isn't Yoga. More like 2 hours of hell.

Congrats on the promotion! That's awesome!

I've been reading a bunch too. I signed up at goodreads.com to keep track of the books I'm reading. If you don't do something like this already, you should check it out.

Thanks Kandis! I joined a small challenge group for this venture so that I can have people to keep me accountable since my family doesn't care if I work out and my boyfriend thinks I look great nonetheless and won't harrass me about working out consistently.

I tried P90X Classic last year (doing Lean this go around) and I did great for about a month until I scored a running injury, then I let the CPA be my excuse for the rest of the year lol. I totally agree with you about Yoga X… I was sweating buckets and cussing Tony out during the entire 90 minutes every time I did it. I've got that on the schedule on Thursday and am most definitely not looking forward to it.

I've never heard of goodreads.com but have been looking for something like it, so thank you veey much for the suggestion. I'll definitely check it out.

Congrats! The cleaner house part cracks me up. Ever since, I started studying, my house has been getting messier. I look at it and have this urge to clean it up, but I know that i have to spend that time studying. Also, I hope to play with my cat more often. I've been ignoring his calls.

I think the losing the first 5 or so pounds is the hardest part. Now that you see the results of hard work, it's a lot easier to be motivated to continue exercising. At least for me it is. Continue to good work!
