I live in PA. We still have a “grandfather” clause that states if you have graduated AND passed a section prior to 12/3/11 (both of which I did), you can get a license with less stringent requirements:
•120 Hours | Two Years – A candidate can become licensed with 120 credit hours, 24 of which in the accounting subjects listed above, and two years (3,200) of work experience within ten years of the date of certification application.
The “normal” requirement is 150 hours, 48 accounting credits, and 1600 hours experience.
So then there’s me. I have like 200+ credits. But only 33 of them are accounting. I’ve got about 4800 hours of experience. Do you think I still qualify? I DID pass a part before 12/31/11, it’s just now expired. I kind of forgot about it for a while and now I’m in full panic mode. I know when I signed up, information was very specific that expired sections still count to grandfather you, but, of course, now I can’t find that info anymore. Having to go back and complete 15 credits would ruin my life even more than this exam has.
I reached out to my state board, but I know they will take their sweet time getting back to me. Your thoughts/experiences are appreciated.
