This letter is being submitted in connection with the Application for a Certificate as a CPA for Anita Mitchell.
Mrs. Mitchell has worked for me on a full-time basis from August 4, 2008, up to the present date. Her position was classified as a staff accountant from August 4, 2008 until December 31, 2010, senior accountant from January 1, 2011 until December 31, 2012, and manager subsequent to December 31, 2012. My office is staffed by me, Mrs. Mitchell and a non-professional staff. Mrs. Mitchell has been directly supervised by me since beginning her employment with me, and she has been responsible for supervising the non-professional staff since being classified as a senior accountant.
Her experience during her employment with me is primarily as follows:
1) Preparing compilation reports on clients (LLCs, corporations, S-corporations, partnerships, and sole proprietors) engaged in retail, construction, and governmental activities.
2) Preparing payrolls and related payroll reports for clients.
3) Assisting clients in designing and implementing sound internal controls and operating procedures.
4) Assisting a governmental client in processing transactions after a sudden departure of key accounting personnel.
5) Assisting clients in setting up chart of accounts, and training their personnel on using general ledger software.
6) Providing payroll information to workers compensation insurance companies and their auditors.
7) Providing payroll information to insurance companies for reimbursement under provisions of long-term care contracts.
8) Performance of auditing work on areas such as cash, payroll, fines, occupational licenses, and cash disbursement procedures on governmental audits beginning in May 2011.
9) Supervision of non-professional staff relating to work done, account coding, review of bank reconciliations,
10) Assistance in reconstruction of client’s accounting records after system failure.
11) Preparation and reporting of sales tax liabilities.
12) Preparation of client’s various license and tax applications, and property tax reports.
13) Maintenance of client depreciation schedules.
14) Consultations with clients on school board retirement and Office of Group Benefits options.
My supervision primarily consisted of assignment of projects, instruction as to how they were to be preformed, and review of related work papers, reports and correspondence she prepared before releasing our work to the client.
