    hey…

i am bit confused about my eligibility to get the certificate to work in USA.

if i am eligible to sit for the exam and clear it, still will i get the certificate of CPA if I don’t

fullfill the requirement of 150 hours as from some states you are eligible to sit for the exams

even before you complete 150 hours condition. I don’t want the license but the certificate work in corporate world.

i am a graduate ( bachelor in commerce honours from india

In order to call yourself “CPA”, you have to meet the three E's, education, exam and experience. You need to check the state that you are applying to for their education requirements. Some states won't let you sit for the exam without 150 hours. Even if you have the education and pass the exam, you cannot call yourself a CPA without the experience.

In addition to passing the exam, you must meet the experience and education requirements for the particular state in which you want to be licensed. In almost every state there is a 150 credit-hour requirement. I'm unsure about the uniformity of the experience requirements, but in Michigan, you must work for 2000 hours (1 year) under a CPA. I assume that to be quite common.

I think what you are suggesting is that you just want to take the exam and not meet the education and/or experience requirements. Passing the exam will help you get an entry level public accounting job, but you won't be a CPA until you met all the requirements. I'd imagine that most corporations would seek licensed, experienced CPA.

In most states there is no certificate vs. license, and passing the exams without meeting the requirements to attain a license is meaningless. Thats why the AICPA and NASBA are stringent on people not referring to themselves as a CPA until they are licensed in a state.
