If I understand the CPA exam scoring procedure correctly…theoretically I could receive an exam that is worth more than 99 points because they will do a statistical analysis on each question to determine how many points that question is worth. Is that correct?

From what I have read…the reason the scores release is taking so long is due to the new way each exam is scored. So it seems possible for someone to get an exam worth more or less than 99 points. Does anyone have any info on this? Thanks!

No. The range of scores is 0-99. They map your scores for each section, MCQ and SIMS, to a range of 0-100. They then apply the weights of each section (60% and 40%) and then map that score to the 0-99 range. Here's the link if you want to read more.

I'm sure they simply just have the score capped at 99 no matter how well you do.
