As you all know, one of the steps must be taken to be a CPA is to work under a supervision of a licensed CPA for 2 years (in California).

I would like to ask, how much I may get paid as a monthly salary for this internship period?

Are you still a student or just want the internship for experience? It van vary greatly depending on all of your responsibilities. I never did an internship under an accountant, but worked in the accounting department at a grocery store and got paid $10. A friend of mine who worked in the Audit department of an oil and gas business under a CPA was paid $15 and someone who worked under a CPA in an actual firm was paid $12.

These were all why we were still juniors in college and in Texas… in a smaller town- East Texas, not Dallas or Houston or anything like that.

ChantelRhea's numbers are pretty accurate, based on my own internship at a regional CPA firm.

Remember that in California, of the two years experience (24 months) required, a “month” of part-time employment (non-salary) experience is equal to 170 hrs. I interned during busy season and through the summer, and of those 10 months prior to going full-time, I only get credit for 6.75 months of experience.

Actually, I am not a student anymore, got my Bachelor degree. I am preparing my CPA exam and I would like to work as an independent auditor. So, I need to start with internship for any CPA office in order to get licensed.

If you already have your bachelor's degree, I think you could get a real job and not just an internship. Maybe that's not the case where you live, but I know most people (including myself) got a job as an staff accountant while studying for the CPA exam. You could work as an independent auditor and make an actual salary. I don't know if you just want an internship due to having time to study or what, but I'd look into an actual job, which will probably be much better pay.
