If anyone is curious how long it takes to get a CPA license in Illinois after passing the exams, here is how it went for me:

10/27/12 – Sat for last exam

    11/04/12 – Completed ethics exam

11/21/12 – Results of last exam

12/05/12 – Received certification letter via email

[IBOE transmits to IDFPR on every 1st and 15th, wait at least 10 days after receiving certification]

12/27/12 – Mailed application to IDFPR

01/03/13 – Received certificate in the mail

03/15/13 – License number posted on IDFPR website

03/20/13 – Received License in mail. FINALLY!!!!!!!!!!

    FAR 10/29/11 - 81
    AUD 04/07/12 - 89
    REG 07/07/12 - 87
    BEC 10/27/12 - 83
Wiley Book, Online Test Bank, Focus Notes

I know this is a super old post, but with the new forum there were a lot of lost responses. I wanted to add my experience here as it is recent and relevant for other Illinois applicants!

    1/22/16 – Completed ethics exam

4/21/16 – Sat for last exam

5/5/16 – Results of last exam

6/21/16 – Received certification letter via email

[My certificate number took a lot longer to get than the normal 10 days. I had to call and ask and they could not tell me why I had not received it yet, they said they must have missed it. So the day I called, 6/21, was the day they issued it]

7/5/16 – Mailed application to IDFPR

7/11/16 – Check cashed by IDFPR

8/18/16 – License number posted on IDFPR website and email notification received

They do not send out mail licenses anymore fyi, so you will have to print it for yourself.

    AUD - 69, 77
    REG - 74, 81
    FAR - 75!
    BEC - 71, 82

    IL candidate!

    Finally done (5/24/16)!! Yahooooooo!

@jessica8926 Thanks for this update. I will (hopefully) be starting this process in a little over a week and this really helps me gauge a time frame.

Thank you for the information about electronic version of the license certificate.
I was waiting for my certificate from the IDFPR coming in the mail…lol 🙂
I have checked my email and now I have printed it out from the website.

Just want to bump this to see if any other IL candidates are waiting on the certificate. I got the results of pass on my last exam on 3/21 and my ethics was already done years ago and still no certificate # on the BOE website. Has anyone heard anything?

Bumping this post to see if anyone else that has received their license more recently can share their timeline.

@passpasspass is that a month from the day you completed the application and submitted everything to getting licensed? Or a month from passing the exam to being licensed?

@PJ It's a month from the day I submitted my application to IDFPR. I passed the exam a long time ago.
