What is the current processing time for IL license? Do I require a pass certificate from IL Board of examiners before I can apply for IL license?

I'm wondering the process time myself. You do require a certificate from IBOE before you can apply. They also say to wait two weeks until after you've received that certificate number electronically.

I know you have been asking if you can apply online. It appears to me that you cannot apply online. I see that you can renew online but I don't see the ability to apply.

    Here's the link for applying:

I sent my information in the mail last Saturday. I'm just wondering how long it will take to process my license. My sister was licensed in '09 and she said it took 3 months. I hope it's not that long.

I am beyond annoyed and frustrated w/ IL. I passed Ethics (my final) on 8/7. I was certified on 8/22. I was told to wait two weeks to send my application so that they could get my certificate to the IL Dept of Prof Regulation. So I did just that and on 9/10 my check was cashed. Still no license!

I finally got in touch with someone last week (after calling incessantly) and they said that my application looks good, but they are just really busy right now. It's ridiculous. They look to have my license to me by 12/1. So the 3 month processing time sounds about right!

My check was cashed today, time to see how long they take to process this license. I'm tired of explaining why I technically can't call myself a CPA yet.

I searched all the related websites and I can't find any clear description of the licensing process in Illinois. I just received the results of my last exam and I passed the ethics exam 2 weeks ago. My application is ready to go except for the certificate number.

Will I be able to see on the ilboa website that they've received my ethics exam results? How long until the certificate number posts? How long does it take to get the license?

I was hoping to get my license by the end of 2012 but from reading the other posts here, I don't think that will happen. Ugh!!! I just want to be done!

    @gailxadri

IBOE told me you need to wait two weeks after you have received your certificate number online. If you just received your score, then I'm thinking you will see your certificate number before the end of November. Then, you will need to wait two weeks from that point before you send in your application to IDFPR. After that, it's a waiting game. Unfortunately, I don't think you'll receive your license before 2013.

No problem, I would check with the board next week if you don't see your certificate number by Wednesday. When I called they had to find my file as it wasn't in the lady's stack of files.

Hi all. FYI – I called Monday of this week and the man said that they are currently processing all applications received prior to 9/25/12. Seriously ridiculous.

Wow, that's ridiculous! I can't believe they're just lumping them together. Do the applications just sit for awhile while they wait for the stacks to build or what!

Too bad mine misses that deadline. Oh well, no CPA in 2012 for me.

I sent my application in at the beginning of October, and check was cashed like a week after that. I just got a letter back today stating that the description of my “duties performed as an accountant” in section VA-PAE was not specific enough, so they could not process my application. What type of description are they looking for? I don't even want to attempt to call them because every time I do I wait on hold forever then get hung up on. Seriously past the point of frustrated with this process!

I found out that I passed my last exam on 9/11/12, finished my ethics exam on 9/21/12, got certified from ILBOA on 10/9/12, and sent my licensure application in on 12/3/12. My check hasn't been cashed yet, but I'll definitely keep you updated on how long the process takes for me. I've got a feeling it's going to be a while…

    F - PASSED (11/26/11)
    A - PASSED (1/14/12)
    B - PASSED (7/14/12)
    R - PASSED (8/31/12)
    Ethics Exam - 95 %

Just waiting to be able to put those three little letters behind my name...

Alright gang, check my timeline above. My license was JUST issued yesterday. WOW! If you go on the department of financial regulation website, license lookup, type your last name. I've checked every day basically since 11/1.

Good luck to all of you waiting and I hope that you get licensed soon!

    Mrs 300, CPA, LOVE IT!!!
