Hello, I hope this help whoever is lost after passing the CPA exam.
I don’t know what to do after passed to be honest. Thankfully a lot of people answer my questions in this forum.
I am in Texas, things might be different in different states.

I receive my package from the board two weeks after I passed the final section. It was Christmas holiday and new year in between.

The package contain a form that step to step shows how to apply for certificate along what kind of documents are needed; A application to apply the certificate ; and a paper contain quotes from rule XXX says that you cannot use the CPA designation until licensed.
The websites that was given from the letter won’t work, maybe they update their server, but you can still find the needed document from the board website.

I was just about to post about this haha. I'm in TX too. I finally pass REG last month and was relieved that I don't have to study anymore. I was thinking I'll be officially licensed before busy season and have it all out of the way. Nope.

I'm currently waiting for my firm to decide to fill out the Texas state board's work experience form and get it back to me so I can send my application for issuance (and more of my money) to them. The experience form looks like it should take maybe 5 minutes to fill out…but who knows how long my firm is gonna take.

Also, why in 2021 are we still printing out things like an “oath of office” and getting it notarized and printing out work experience forms and all this crap to mail to the TSBPA in an envelope?? Ugh.

BUT with all that being said, I'll do all this crap 20 times before I study for those exams again. So it does keep me from complaining and ranting too much at least.

This process y'all.. I really thought they would have digitized some things since I applied in 2019. Be patient, they take their sweet time processing all that paper! I would be happy to help if anyone else is lost or anxious about it. As you can see there is quite a lag with response and processing. I will follow up with the rest of the timeline as it progresses.

    1/11 – 4th exam score release date
1/12 – Completed the Ethics CPE course
1/13 – Email from TSBPA – exam score received
*at this point they are supposed to mail the certificate application*
1/22 – Email to TSBPA inquiring when apps were mailed out
1/26 – TSBPA responded that applications were mailed on 1/14
1/27 – Email to TSBPA that mine must have been lost in the mail
1/29 – TSBPA responded that they requested a new one be sent
2/6 – Received application in the mail (Postmarked 2/3)
2/8 – Mailed off the application, $, other forms via UPS (pay the extra $ to track)
2/11 – Email from TSBPA that they received my application and CPA Certification Qualification tab
TSBPA account updated Overall Status to: CPA Certification in Process and the Certificate Fee was received

2/25 TSBPA emailed that my application was missing experience details
3/1 Emailed experience details to TSBPA

Still no further updates on my account… Assuming the ice storm in Texas probably put them at least a week behind in processing.

I am so glad this post exists…. I have a question for you all that have gone through the Texas process. In regard to what's required for work experience, I am a little confused. From my understanding, there are the two work experience forms and I also need to send a description of my roles at the employer who is signing off on my experience. There's an additional item of support, I am curious about. It sounds as though the CPA signing off on my experience is supposed to provide memo about THEIR experience. I found this a bit odd as they are already a CPA and not the person applying for certification. Per the instructions, this is what is to be provided “a statement describing the type and amount of experience the CPA possesses that qualifies the individual to supervise the candidate”.
Am I misunderstanding something or is this something y'alls CPA provided? Mine filled out the form but didn't give me this statement even though I requested…. I wanted to post the question here to clarify before I bug them again 🙂

    Info is GREATLY appreciated!
    Thanks – Britney

Hi I have the same questions: Does anyone have recommendations on what worked to submit their application for license?

I'm in Texas; I've passed all 4 parts; I've completed one year of work experience in industry as the controller for a Texas nonprofit corporation. The CPA engaged to supervise my work in the non-routine accounting areas is wondering what exactly the TSBPA is looking for in this area of this form “CERTIFICATION OF CPA ENGAGED TO PROVIDE SUPERVISION”.

Any thoughts and suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    TIA

    Tom
