I Just Finished AUD, Where Are You Herb???

So I just got out of AUD and I am concerned. First off, I felt like I knew almost every answer on the exam. It was harder to tell if testlets got harder because it really did seem like I knew every answer for except maybe 6 (I’m sure they got harder). I was well prepared for this test using Yaeger. The SIMs were a tad bit confusing but I believe fair. My 1 concern is I literally finished this exam in 2hrs 45 min and I went over questions multiple times. Has anyone went thru the exam so quickly and passed? It makes me feel like maybe I wasn’t reading the questions carefully enough. Any thoughts??

I think this is common. I remember one discussion last year where Jeff referred to people “having enough time to finish the AUD exam and then bake a turkey for the kids getting tutored” within the allotted time slot. LOL.

    AUD - 92
    FAR - 73, 82
    REG - 72, 82
    BEC - 84 DONE!!!!!! 🙂

@Spectrum – I just decided to reschedule Audit & sit for the exam April 15th instead of April 20th.

I'll have approx 300 hours study in by test day and scoring in the 90's on the Wiley testbank and CPAexcel simulated exams. More than the past three sections, I just feel ready and don't want to “overstudy” to the point of memorizing answers to the MCQ's.

My finishline strategy is to read the text on internal controls & evidence and continue to plug away at approx 300 MCQ's per day. Does this sound ok???? My concern is that I've only worked in the private sector with no audit experience (except being on the client side of the game).

    Thanks.

Haze!!! I'm back from the golf course : D I left my Audit exam with about 2 hours remaining also. I don't get why AUD is still 4 hours (30 mins less than 2010) long and REG only 3 hours. I'm glad you could answer most of the questions in the exam!!!! When I left AUD, it felt so much better than REG. I didnt feel I was cheated by the mcqs or the sims. Now go take the Best out of REG and destroy it!!

aye, I finished both FAR and AUD with over 2 hours remaining each time, though for AUD the second and third testlets were a lot harder for me

I'm 100% positive you will pass REG this window. Now you know the AICPA's dirty tricks in REG and the weird topics they focus on, plus you will be mentally prepared for the sims. You already know all the material in general, so everything you do will increase your score. I will send you an email tomorrow with some notes I got.

@ Haze: I'm so sorry you have to rematch with REG. But as Herb said, you'll get it this time. Good luck!

@ Liz, actually I am looking forward to it. One thing I hate is to feel like something beat me. I think I know how to attack this test this go around

Haze, your comment reminds me of a quote from the movie Rocky Balboa.

“The world ain't all sunshine and rainbows. It's a very mean and nasty place and I don't care how tough you are it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it. You, me, or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life. But it ain't about how hard ya hit. It's about how hard you can get it and keep moving forward.” (source IMDB)

I like your attitude about not accepting defeat. I told myself throughout this entire process that I refused to think that I wasn't capable of achieving my dream of becoming a licensed professional. You will do it too!

By the way, don't worry too much about leaving time on the clock. I finished AUD with 1.5 hours to go I scored exceptionally high. Keep fighting the good fight! You will be a CPA!

I would be worried if it were me, and I finished any exam 1 or 2 hours early. That's almost seems like bad time management, but not near as bad as running out of time. For me, I allocated the same amount of time across the 3 testlets. And, if I still have time after I have finished a testlet (per my alloted time allocated to it), I will go back and review the ?s that I had trouble with. Then, I will move on to the next testlet and repeat the same process. I do like to have at least 20 or 30 minutes remaining at the end so I can review my sims.

I have the thought of: I paid for test, and prepared for soooo long that I don;t want to feel or think about the “what if” scenarios. I have used all my time in every test, I guess I try to get me money's worth. But all in all, I have heard of people leaving early and doing really well, If you know it, you know it. If you are confident, then you most likely passed. That has been the case with me anyway. I ran out of time twice, and failed. I managed my time better last window, and went 2 for 2. I wish I could finish early, but the A.D.D. in me makes me really have to read the question (sometimes 2/3 times) before I make my answer. That testing style doesn't allow you to have 1-2 remaining.

    @ HazeEastwood

You should be OK. I completed my AUD in 3 hrs when I took it in the last window (Q1/2011). I used Wiley Test Bank & CD. Got an 87 !!

So I got my score report today. I scored stronger in every area except 2. 1 of those areas I scored comparable in and I failed (although I was very close to passing). Do these score reports make sense??

I have seen some posts implying the score report only includes the performance on the mcqs and not the simulations. Does that holds true for 2011 reports?
