With all the talk of jobs, I’m curious what is the best way to make contact with a headhunter/recruiter? Would I just find an agency that has job openings and ask talk to someone?

Start with LinkedIn. You can also check CareerBuilder.com and Indeed.com. Recruiters are always posting jobs on those sites. That would be the easiest way to make contact.

Linked In is a great resource. Many times I have reached out to recruiters that work for firms that I am interested in. I usually don't do this in reference to a specific job, but rather I ask if they would be willing to set up a brief phone call with me so that I can learn more about the firm and discuss my career goals. They are usually very willing to take the time to chat.

Another alternative is to have someone from your LI network introduce you to a recruiter they are connected with or to have a friend in your network connect you with a person who works at the firm and then maybe they can get you in contact with a recruiter.

It is a lot of leg work, but it should work out well. Good luck.
