So I read about how some people on here wake up early before going to work and study. I’m just wondering how you do it?

I get up at 6:20AM and I have zero time to spare in order to wake up on time. I absolutely hate waking up early. For years (and I’m not exaggerating when I say years) I have tried to wake up earlier than necessary so that I could get some early morning exercise in, and have had very very little success with that. I am a really self disciplined person in most aspects of my life, but never been able to tackle this problem.

I have even moved my alarm clock clear across the room so that I have to get out of bed to turn it off, and yet when I set if for earlier than I HAVE to be up, I still manage to just get up and hit snooze or just straight up change it to a new alarm time.

I’m just wondering how you guys overcome this problem (if it is a problem for you)

The method that works for me is to think of why I want to get up early just before falling asleep. Plan out what I need to do. This will normally give me the push to follow through with getting out of bed. Also, when the alarm goes off – DON'T THINK – just get up and start what you need to do. Once you are in action – it is easier.

For me the morning is a more productive time of the day. It starts the day off on a good note. Also, I perfer to relax in the evening so the more I can accomplish earlier in the day the better.

If I need to be up and “alert” nothing says good morning like a cold shower. I hate getting up and have the same issues you have with setting the alarm for a early time and hitting snooze. However there are times when I absolutely have to be up; for these times I think cpa journey is correct when they say not to think about it, and head in for a cold shower. A warm shower is too comfortable.

I don't get up early often (just out of college), but I was reading a yoga article a while back which recommends setting your alarm to about 15 minutes before sunrise (sunrise is 5:50am this time of year so it'd mean set ur alarm to 5:35am). Apparently there's some energy right before sunrise that makes you active in the morning. I really thought it was crap, but I tried it a few times and it worked for me. Who knows, doesn't hurt to try it I guess.

Easy — do i want to spend 10,000,000 dollars on CPA retakes hell no! So for that one week that i decided to get up at 3:30 am…i did. I studied, got ready for work at 5, on public trans. by 6 (studied while commuting), worked my 8 hours, and was knocked out on public trans on the way home. (my commute is an hour) so i was refreshed when i arrived home and studied some more.

Probably fairly obvious, but go to sleep earlier as well. Unless you have cable, there's some pretty bad TV on during very early hours. Maybe your approaching exam date is also a pretty good scare tactic as well.

    I really can't pass again!
