Hi, Is there anyone know whether I need a CPA to verify my working experience to apply for the IL CPA? Also, is it ok for a previous employer to fill out the working experience part for me? Thanks!

No, your experience does not have to be under the supervision of a CPA. Regarding which employer fills out the verification, I know you had to have gained the experience after you met the educational requirements. I don't know of any other restrictions on which employer can verify your experience (if there are more I don't know about them).

Thanks badger_2012! A follow-up question, according to your info, the working experience before I passed the exams doesn't count in IL,is that right? That sounds a little bit unreasonable to me…

    You're most welcome 🙂

To answer your follow up question, no, you can use the working experience you gained before you passed the exams- that's totally fine. The requirement is that you obtain the experience after you met the educational requirements (i.e- the 150 hours and the required number of accounting/business credit hours). So any work you did before you met those requirements can't be used, but your experience after that is ok to use.
