I’m looking for recent experiences with obtaining one’s license in VA (I did search of the forum but it didn’t come up with much of anything). I just finished my exam and took my ethics exam as well. I’ve faxed over my experience form and my certificate from the ethics exam. I’ve also completed the online application and paid the application fee. Any idea on how long it will take for them to process the information and issue my license? (I know they’re closed today for the holiday.)

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks!

I'm not optimistic about mine getting processed this week, given the current speed of the VBOA.

I've been periodically checking license numbers between projects and have seen 4 or 5 be issued today (one of which was issued a little while ago I had guessed was you based on similarity of your user name to the name of the licensee).

I figured out the highest license number that had been issued (right now the highest is 40251). If you use the search feature https://secure1.boa.virginia.gov/Verification/Search.aspx you can search by license number (40246-40251 have been issued today). So I've been periodically checking to see if the next number (currently 40252) has been assigned to anyone yet.

Nope, nothing yet. And 40251 is still the highest number (actually 40252 posted while I was typing). I wonder how they determine the order that they process them. My guess would be that it is by application date, which would probably put me towards the end of the line.

Virginia Board just emailed my payment coupon – took less than two weeks to apply and be eligible to sit.

    The fun begins this weekend

Do you think 8 weeks for FAR is enough. Or should I take Audit first.

I want to take my first exam last week of JAN 2013

    AUD--52,68,83, expired. Retake = 74 RETAKE - 7.24.26
    FAR--73,70,68,75
    BEC-- 79
    REG-- 68,62,75

@23k, how many hours a week do you intend to study? I gave myself three months for FAR, but I also work full-time. On average I studied about two hours a day during the week, and 3-4 hours a day on weekends (I'd give myself one day off per week). If you're not working full-time then FAR in two months is probably doable.

    I work full time –

I plan to study 2 hours per day on the weekdays and 4 to 5 hours on the weekends.

I just scheduled AUD instead of FAR for JAN 19, 2013…

I'm not sure if this is the right move but – I'm going for it…

@23K – good luck! I scheduled each of my exams about two months out to allow for ample study time. However, I generally wound up doing most of my studying in the two weeks leading up to the test. It really varies from person to person as to how much lead time you need.
