Has anyone felt bad and not completed one of the SIMs and still passed?

I felt going in I knew the information pretty well. I got in the test and was so frustrated! The hole test was pretty difficult. I didn’t budget time properly. I did finished one SIM and typed a sentence on the other memo.

Anyway has anyone ever done this and then passed? I need therapy after that one. Previously I passed AUD with 86 and BEC with 77.

Yep – this happened to me. I cover this in my book if you're interested.

Only did memos and research part for both sims on FAR. Passed.

    @csbarron

For Financial, I totally guessed on one of my simulations, couldn't find one of the research answers, somewhat knew my second simulation, and still passed with a 78.

Only one of the memos is graded, so if you completed the right one, you might be fine there. Also, there are more points available in the SIMS than you can actually receive, so if you leave some stuff blank, all hope is not lost. The test is designed so that the average candidate cannot finish, apparently the examiners want to see that a candidate will abandon something and move one. On top of that, you don't know what questions or parts of SIMS that they are doing a test run on and are going to throw out anyway. I don't think I ever completed a SIM. I think the examiners are sadistic and their final blow is that they make you wait a month for a score.

I wish I could get that lucky. On the first sim I typed one sentence on the memo and skipped the research. Second sim I only completed the memo. Maybe I will get lucky and get my second memo graded. I don't have much hope at this point. The only hope I have is reading you guys stories.

I took REG back in February and just had enough time to finish one simulation and not touch the second one. I was so disappointed until I received my score… I got an 88, so it all worked out…

    Hope that helps

Just signed in. New here. Took my first test last week REG (11.24.09) I cried when I left the testing center. I know for sure I failed I didn't complete the SIMs and what I did answer I completly guessed. I feel better reading the responses and knowing I have a chance though I think it is a slim chance. I am taking the Becker online classes and the final exam for REG I got 50% I almost canceled my test. I took the test now I wonder do I go back and restudy and try to take the REG test again in Jan. or move on to the next section? To be honest I couldn't even answer the the memo section on the first SIM I wrote a memo stated further reseach would be necessary and we would follow up…how lame is that!? Do you think I will get docked for that?

I typed one sentence and then typed please call me if you have additional questions. hahaha. funny now, but I was so pissed at the time. I would give anything to some how squeak out a 75. please please please let there be a curve! and f u cpa testers! ha

took REG on 11/30 and it was very difficult! reading all these makes me feel better, too, because although i was able to finish REG with 2 min left…my multiple choice were very difficult (i had mostly ALL tax questions) and my sims were a nightmare. i definitely feel good about the research tabs and one of the written communications. but the other tabs…who knows?!

    AUD - 84; REG - 90; BEC - 79; FAR - 75; ALL DONE!!

also….for the research tabs. is there just ONE specific answer that is right and anything else you choose is automatically wrong. or could there be more than one right answer?

jeff – do you know how that works?

    AUD - 84; REG - 90; BEC - 79; FAR - 75; ALL DONE!!

Not sure about the research question…my guess is that there is one correct answer they're looking for since it's computer-graded.

lwhite76-i just laughed out loud at work. Word of advice for future exams (assuming you have enough time, which I DEFINITELY didn't on FAR)-if you are unsure how to even begin answering a communications tab, use the research tab to try to look up some info. I've done that in the past and it really helped.

Too bad they don't award points for creativity, because your response was awesome.

I took my first test last November (REG) and going out of the test I thought for sure there is no way I passed. I ran out of time and franticly guessed on the last simulation and thought the multiple choice questions were very difficult too. When I finally got my score back I got a 95. I was shocked when I saw the score, I even made one of my co-workers look at my score because I didn't believe it. So it is okay to feel that way after a test. As long as you study hard and know the information very well I think you should pass.

Every test I've been in there until the last second, so a lot of the exams I didn't even do the research tab because I didn't have enough time. So I'm not sure how important that tab is, or if you're running out of time if it's worth it to spend a lot of time on. Good luck!

I used research tab for writing memos on AUD and FARE. I think it saved my life on FARE (since I left rest of simulations blank). I practically copied rules word to word, just added couple of connecting sentences.

However, on REG I couldn't even understand what they wanted from me on both memos – half paragraph questions with “Please be sure to address the following issues” (bullet point list with 5 issues)… and i couldn't find the rules in research tab… weird, weird, weird!..
