GA Licensees

    Hi all,

I’m just curious to hear from other GA licensees, how long did it take to get your license?

I applied online on 12/11 and sent in my transcripts on Saturday. However, I still do not see any record of my application when checking the status online.

GA is a Nasba site so they manage the applications instead of my State (I think that’s how it works). So there’s no telling where it is.

I’m just curious to see if you received any communication during the process and how long it took start to finish.

    Thanks!

I applied in GA on 11/16…I did not receive my license # until 12/6. NASBA is great about keeping you updated. They send you emails as you go thru each step of the process. I would give it two weeks with them. Once it is sent to GA is another story. I called multiple times after NASBA confirmed my package was sent and GA kept saying they didn't have it. Two days later I received and email that my package was accepted by GA Board of Accountancy. 5 minutes later I receieved an email stating I was now approved and licensed and showing my license number. Hope this helps and congrats!

I applied on 12/1/12….after a battle with NASBA over business course credit, they finally conceded on 1/8 that I met all requirements for licensure. On 1/17/13, I received notice that the state had my package. I hope to have a license # this coming week.

    Good luck to you.

How did you initiate the discussion about credit? I am in the same boat.

    FAR 67, 73, 71, 76; AUD 61, 85; BEC 70, 77; REG 75

Eeek. Sorry that posted 3 times. When NASBA notified me of my deficiency, I responded via email requesting a copy of my transcripts with them indicating what they were accepting as accounting hours and business hours. They provided me with my transcripts within 24 hours.

I immediately contacted the GSCPA for guidance. I can't give enough kudos to Nikelle Klareich. She helped me through this process. We researched the formal appeal process, but in the end, I stumbled across the bulletin from UGA that specifically stated the course in question was duplicate credit for a business class. NASBA reconsidered and within 24 hours of providing supporting evidence, my application was completed and moved on for licensure.

Can you tell a little more about your situation? I may be able to personally email you some documentation to help you fight the good fight and get the license you deserve.

Is there any chance that your firm is currently hiring? What part of GA is your firm located? I am trying to get into public (many years in private industry)

I know you can not give me a referral since we do not know each other, but any help is appreciated.

    Congratulation and thanks.
