    Hi

I am a technology engineer by profession and have done my bachelors of engineering in Electrical engineering and a Masters of Science in Computer Engineering. I have always been interested in bussiness, finance and accounting but don’t have any formal education in Accounting or finance.

Is it possible for someone like me to give the CPA exam? I believe I have the 150 college credits (BS+MS) but none of them are in accounting. How do I meet the prerequisits of accounting and business courses

I am sure a lot of you will think I am crazy to even attempt this but any help/advice would be grately appreciated.

P.S : I know i will be starting from stratch and am willing to put all the effort.

    Thanks

    JH

Check your state board of accountancy website for the specific education requirements for your state. It varies by state and good luck!!

    REG-80, 77, 77
    BEC-67, 68, 71, 67, 71, 74, 71, 74, 72, 77
FAR- 72, 65,67, 53, 75 (truth be known the 53 was with 4 hours of studying)
    AUD-58, 62, 72, 74, 74, 75
took 5 years but I'm DONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Engineer,

Why not start off with an introduction to accounting course at a community college and then go from there? You'll definitely need (depending on your state) almost the equivalent of enough coursework for a degree in accounting, as well as a number of units in business related courses.

You're probably looking at 8-10 courses in accounting, along with 8-10 courses of business-related courses JUST TO QUALIFY to sit for the exam (eg – in California, 24 semester units of accounting plus 24 units of business related courses are required)….then you'll have to pay upwards of $1,200+ for a CPA review course

    Good luck!

    Good luck!
