    HELLO ALL!

    n

I need some help! I passed the CPA exam and have mailed back my application and work experience forms in, but I didn’t see anything about the ethics exam. I called up the Tallahassee number but no one could help me. Anyone know when or if FL sends information on taking the ethics exam? Do I just sign up somewhere?

    n

    Help Please!n

Kewi44 – Sorry I don't know your answer but are you sure FL even requires an Ethics exam. Not all states require an Ethics exam to get CPA license. I am in IN and IN does not require exam. Also, if FL does require an Ethics exam you need to make sure which exam is acceptable. Those states that require the ethics exam specifies which exam is acceptable though most of them do require the AICPA course. Nothing like having 50 states plus territories making their own rules to get CPA license which is the case. Congratulations on passing.n

I had searched all over the DBPR website a month or so ago to see if I could find if FL required the ethics exam, but I didn't find any mention specifically saying yes or no. Since, I'm not quite finished with the exams yet, I haven't looked since. But yesterday, a coworker did say that FL does require it…but she got her license back in the paper exam era. So it could have changed.

So if anyone out there knows for sure, please help :)n

When I originally applied to take the CPA exam I heard it was required. That was in 2008. I thought for sure it was a requirement. I can't find anything that specifically states it, but I guess I'll try to call back and check with the Tallahassee number on my application. They seem to be just as confused but maybe if I get transferred around enough, I'll find someone who knows.

I appreciate you both trying to help me out. That would be wonderful if I'm really done.

Congrats to you too Lee! AND best of luck to you Nicole!n

The FL Department of Business & Reg does not specifically state that the ethics exam is required but I keep thinking that it must based on what everyone else has told me. The website states the following:
    nInitial CPA License
nThis application is used by individuals who passed the CPA examination, within the last three years, as a Florida candidate to apply for licensure as a CPA. If you passed the examination in another state or hold a license in another state, you must apply using the endorsement method.

    Application Requirements:
n APPLICATION: Complete the application by clicking on the “Printable Application” link at the bottom of the page.

    n

FEES: $50 non refundable fee is required with application.

    n

EDUCATION: Official transcripts verifying completion of a baccalaureate degree and 150 semester hours of education from an accredited institution to include specific accounting and business courses.

    n

I thought Florida just required an exam on Florida laws but I don't even see that on the website.
