ParticipantNeed some advise. I failed AUD now with a 65, two 55, and one below that not even worth mentioning at this point. I have been studying just AUD (until the last two months) since 11/07. I would think that the content is there, but I need to reinforce the mc and the sims. Is the Yager Cram good for a review. I already own 2009 Wiley book that I did not use.

InactiveI'm so sorry so anxious. The Yager Cram helped me improve my score 13 points… Do you have Becker as well? They teach the material very well, at least for AUD. I can't say much about the others yet.

ParticipantBigmones – I started with the Becker and they were the first scores of my woes (4_, 55), and then I tried a classroom program and got the next 55, and then restudied all of that on my own to land the 65. I have over at least 1 1/2 feet stacked high of AUD materials. In IL we have to wait for our dianostic so I don't know where I fell short. Last time it took weeks to come. I have trouble with the Becker questions once I know the answer I remember it. I think those are only good for me once. I have the 2009 Wiley book, the 2009 Gleim software and sims, 2008 Becker, and the NIU 2009 books. Oh, I forgot I have the 2009 Wiley software also.
Thanks for responding. I appreciate it!

InactiveHere's the good news, each time you have increased your score by 10 points… So a 65+10=75, which means passing 🙂

ParticipantBigmones – Very true. I have came pretty far from the first 40 somthing I had the first time. It was in the upper forties but it is still far away from a 65. I am listen to the Yager sample right now for AUD. Can you access the cram anywhere. It is a webcast right and they follow through the Wiley book.

ParticipantI am waiting for my AUD score too. I may have failed too. I went to bat with a short stick since this is my last exam. I did not want to pass up the January – February window without taking a swing with my short bat.
You did not say what review programs that you used, I assume that it is Becker. I think that Becker's AUD is better than Becker's FAR, REG, and BEC. I liked Yaeger Homestudy better than Becker for FAR, REG and BEC. I passed all three of those exams with Yaeger on the first try.
This is my plan if I failed AUD. I am going back to Yaeger's Homestudy for AUD. Gary uses the Wiley book and he explains most of the answers in the Wiley book. After Gary answers most of the questions, I am going to answer ALL of the multiple choice questions in Wiley. By the way, Roger also recommends that you answer all the questions in the Wiley book. I also have Gleim Online and Gleim Test Prep, which I did not use. I will be going through Gleim's entire course. I am also going to do all of Becker's supplemental questions and Becker's Test, which I also did not do for the last exam.
The last exam just killed me on Reports. The AICPA just loves to compare and contrast everything that is different, and boy is each report a little different. I am going to become an expert on Reports by memorizing all the reports.
AUD is just memorization. We can do this!

InactiveSoanxious – Sorry to hear it. You may be better off getting the Yaeger homestudy rather than Cram. I am using Becker so I don't have personal experience with Yaeger, but from other posts I think this might be Jeff's recommendation. I would check with him for some guidance. And make sure you use the discount codes.
Keep going, you can do this!

Participant75 CPA – It was buried above. I have the 2009 Wiley book (I didn't use yet), the 2009 Gleim software and sims, 2008 Becker, and the NIU 2009 books. Oh, I forgot I have the 2009 Wiley software also. I used Becker multiple times on all four parts and failed horribly. I find their quesitons are good the first time because I memorize the answers (on accident). The full review course I bought I have read their books 3x, Beckers book I have even wrote out 3X, I have wrote all the Becker defiintions, done note cards, noted the books, I read the entire book of Auditing Standards written by Wiley (over Christmas). I suck at the sims (or least I have in the past – not sure how I did this last time yet). I am at a loss of where to begin again.
connieCPAin2010 – Thanks for the encouragement! My first thought this morning was to give up. I just don't get it. I am studying for the CFE a couple hours a week and I get all the AUD questions right. It just amazes me.

ParticipantOkay, so I have to share: You know you are a CPA candidate too long when you forgot how many times you have failed. I just looked at my past scores and I have failed it 5x not 4x.

ParticipantSonanxious, I fail AUD 2x and trying again….don't know what to do yet ……cause I feel I knew everything in AUD so well, I memorized each word in every Audit report ect…..
But I always keep one quote in mind:

BEC=77, FAR=78, REG=73,74,80, AUD=70,69, 84 DONE!

ParticipantNJCPA2B – That is an awesome quote and words to live by. I reapplied a little earlier and I am going to take it again in April. I don't have a game plan yet, but….

I got your information. I failed FAR right out of the gate and then I passed FAR, REG and BEC on the first try. May I make some suggestions?
You only fail if you quit! Never say quit. Jeff is a good example of perseverance. Today he is a CPA. I heard of one guy who took these exams 21 times. Today he is a CPA. All that matters is crossing the finish line.
Half of the battle is mental. When you decide, “come hell or high water,” to pass all four exams you will pass! I made that decision. I have already spent $15,000 on review materials and I may have to spend more if I failed AUD. That does not deter me. If I fail AUD in May, I will have to retake REG. That does not deter me. Failing FAR just made me angry and more determined to spend whatever money I had to and to spend whatever time that it took to pass these exams.
Failure is a better teacher than success. Now you know what does not work. Becker did not work for you. I too failed FAR with an old version of Becker. Becker is not a good teaching course for me. Becker is a great backup review course for another teaching course. Consider paying $560 to get a 2010 Becker review course for AUD. It never pays to use an old version of a review course. I learned that lesson the hard way!
You now have a good base of knowledge and you know how the AUD exam tricks you. Those are the positives.
Please change your attitude about trying to patch up your study plan. Go back to square one and start all over again as if you had never taken an AUD exam. That is the attitude I took after failing FAR. I spent an additional $3,000 for new FAR materials and I threw out ALL of my old materials! I also took 5 months to study FAR, but it was worth it! If you follow my advice, it will cost you some money, but so did failing AUD four times.
I bought ALL of the Bisk Hot Spots for AUD by Bob Monette and the Intensive Bisk Review by Bob Monette. Bob is a first class teacher like Dr. Yaeger and Cindy at Yaeger. Do NOT buy these materials from Bisk! They are too expensive. Call Patty Ryan at 1-800-868-7877 ext. 4330 and e-mail her at patty@bisk.com; I found out about her from “Prepare Right.”
Call Roger and order AUD. I watch Roger first because I hate AUD and Roger jumps all around the room and he gets me motivated and excited to study AUD. My cost was $505.
Call Yaeger and order AUD Home Study. You can get it for $345 with Jeff's discount. No one explains more multiple choice questions in AUD than Gary. Yaeger is the best bargain out there.
Full speed ahead and damn the torpedoes! Good luck!

ParticipantHoly crap cpa 75, you spent $15K on review materials??? That is freakin insane!

Participant@ 75 CPA – $15K!!!!!! I don't think you are going to see a return on that investment for another 10 years … if you've spent $15K on materials I don't think you need anymore than what you already have. I'd suggest CPAReviewforfree.com just to get a few more questions. that was what i used to pass audit
once again **GASP*** i can't believe you spent $15K. what is your current job?

Participant75 CPA – Thanks for the advise and motivation! I am feeling pretty beat up right now and need to hear it. I just wanted to pass one of the four just once. And for everyone else don't be surprised with the price tag. I am at 2 1/2 years trying to pass audit and 14k already with all four parts and not one passing score. The irony of it all is I have the job, the experience, just can't get pass this exam. I know I had a hard exam and felt I tackled it well, but it made me nervous when all three testlets have questions four lines long, and of course the sims. Oh, the sims.
My friend at work used bisk and passed her first exam the first time, and I have seen people on here have success with yaeger. I can't go back to becker. I don't trust it for myself. I have been down their road before and it was the wrong road for me. I will look into the names above and will see you in the forums. Thanks for responding! :O)
