I have a FAR NTS that is going to unfortunatly expire at the end of the month. I’m contemplating whether I should take a dry run, knowing full well I won’t pass, in order to see what the format of the new exam is and what types of IFRS they seem to think is important. Only concern would be the state board seeing a big time bomb of a score and not giving me a licesnse when I to ultimatly pass all parts. ( can they even do that??). Anyone have any thoughts on this? thank you!

You paid for it. If I were in your shoes, I would take it. It will not hurt you to get some experience with the new format, IMO. I thought I was woefully under-prepared for FAR, but I passed.

Actually scheduling the exam is the only thing that gets me motivated to study. Before then, I just can't get started. Right now, I have an active NTS for Auditing, and I'm not moving yet. But there are still 21 days left in this month, so I have time.

    Good luck!

Hek yeah!!! You have NOTHING to lose! I've seen someone score below 30 on an exam… because they went into wing it..

It does not, in no way shape or form, effect your future exams.. go for it!!

CPA Someday – thanks for the advice. I'll check it out. I didn't think that everyone might be trying to backload the test dates during this window.

    BEC - 10/18/2010 - 79
    FAR - 10/28/2010 - 82
    AUD - 11/04/2010 - 73; 02/18/2011 - 86 - IT'S OVER!!!!!!
    REG - 11/21/2010 - 83

Ha! I scored 42 on BEC in November with no studying. At least I got a feel for the exam. I did it for FAR too (64). Don't waste an NTS. Take the exam… and lots of mental notes. It won't hurt.

    Re: available dates and backloading

I look at prometric.com every day several times because the dates change as people decide to reschedule. When I went to schedule BEC the other day, 2/23 was the latest available date. Every day since I scheduled, later days appeared and disappeared as someone else beat me to the punch. Today, I finally snagged 2/28 and for $35, bought 5 more days of studying.

This is the easiest CPA question ever. Yes, sit for it. Nothing to lose.

    ? AUD - 87 (8/12/09)
    ? REG - 77 (1/15/10
    ? BEC - 77 (1/6/09 - Expired) / 79 (11/18/10)
    ? FAR - 75 (2/11/11)
