I am trying to figure out how many questions are “thrown out” or don’t count towards your score when taking a 30 mcq exam (FAR, AUD, REG)? Any info on the 7 simulations?

    Thanks !

    @yankeeaccountant,

I heard that they add 10 pre-test questions out of 90 mcq.

For simulation, they add 1 pre-test sim but it's hard to tell whether it will be research question or other.

For example, in case you have 2 research questions in sim for FAR, don't assume that one of them is pre-test

because that is not always the case.

    FAR- (Passed)(1x)
    AUD- (Passed)(5x)
    REG- (Passed)(3x),84
    BEC- (Passed)(2x)

According to the AICPA explanation of scoring there are 15 test questions on FAR and AUD and 12 on REG and BEC.

    FAR 4/1/11 - 89
    AUD 4/15/11 - 85
    REG 4/29/11 - 80
    BEC 5/13/11 - 85

From the same AICPA info, the selection of simulations isn't set from the beginning of the exam and completely unrelated to how you do on the MCQ. You ought to try reading their explanation of the scoring sometime. Someone up there has a warped sense of humor–it's 8 or 9 pages long and described as a nontechnical explanation, but it's about as clear as mud.

    FAR 4/1/11 - 89
    AUD 4/15/11 - 85
    REG 4/29/11 - 80
    BEC 5/13/11 - 85
