Hey everyone…needed some guidance on the ethics exam. I have recently passed all 4 sections of the cpa exam and I now wish to get done with the ethics exam. I am registered with the Colorado State Board. I have the following questions –

1) From where do I order the material for the AICPA ethics exam? (can I get hold of some discount if I register on a particular website?)

2) What is the estimated time required for preparing for the ethics exam?

3) What is a better source of studying and WHY- the CD version or the text book?

4) How difficult is the ethics exam?

Any help on this will be greatly appreciated!

1- Go to https://www.cpa2biz.com and search for Professional Ethics: AICPA Comprehensive Course. You might be able to buy it from your state society with a discount but the difference isn't that big.

2- You can finish the exam in one day. Just open the pdf file in the CD and solve the questions at the same time (40 MCQs)

3- The CD is better simply because you can search in the pdf files (don't waste your time by reading all of the materials unless you are really interested)

4- The exam can be tricky but since it's an open book exam with most of the materials already covered in AUD exam, you should be fine. You also have three chances to pass (I passed from my first time)

How long did it take to actual receive the AICPA Ethics Course? I ordered mine a week ago and it has not even shipped yet.

I ordered mine at the beginning of the month, never got an email or update on their website with shipping information…I just received the envelope in about 4-5 days. Check you mail today, it might be there 😉

I think most providers allow you to do it online. If your “provider” offers it online maybe you can switch? Maybe you live in a state in which thats not even an option? I'm going to pay my 40 bucks and knock it out tomorrow.

I purchased the ethics exam on dec 26, 2011. I read that you have to pass within one year on the date of purchase. What if I missed my deadline. Its jan 5 2013. i only missed by a few days. Can I call them to have it extended? Or do I have to buy a new book and new test? If anyone knows, please help. I can't believe I missed one year mark since I passed 4 parts. 🙁

I read in a post that the person failed the exam 3 times and called CALCPA (CA) and they gave her 3 more tries before they would require us to buy the material again…so, I can't imagine they wouldn't give you an extension to take the exam (if you never attempted it before.) Call them up and ask.

GUYS….I NEED HELP!

I took the ethics exam and got an 88%. Need a 90% to pass. I changed a few answers and got an 85%. I have one more shot at this before…I don't know what happens if you fail a third time! Yikes…

The CD is not cutting it for me. I also pulled out my Becker Audit book and found some answers but still not enough…

What materials did you guys use to study? How do you study for ethics and behavioral/situational questions?
