Ethics Exam Question

I found out today that I passed FAR (my final section) of the CPA exam and I ecstatic!! However, my happiness was dampened a little bit because I found out that I might also have to take the Ethics Exam. However, I am not 100% of what to do given my situation.

    Here’s My Situation:

I registered to take the CPA Exam in Virginia because they have a NTS that lasts for one-year. However, I will not be living in Virginia. I live in Alabama currently and will be moving to Georgia later this month for a job at a public accounting firm. My two questions are:

    1) Do I apply for my official license in Virginia and then get a Certificate of Reciprocity for Georgia once I become an official CPA?

(I ask this because Virginia has an Ethics Exam requirement that is not required in Georgia)

    2) Or do I transfer my credit for having passed the exam to Georgia and apply for a CPA license there?

I’ve looked for answer but had no success and both state board of accountancy’s are closed for the weekend.

Does anybody know what I should do?

    Here is what I found:

    https://nasba.org/licensure/nasbalicensing/georgia-2/

I would say just apply in Georgia, sounds like you just have to show that you passed the exams and the education and experience requirements.

I took the CA Ethics exam and it wasn't easy, if I didn't HAVE to do it I wouldn't want to go through it.

    FAR- 70, 68, 90
    AUD- 72, 85
    REG- 74, 83
    BEC- 81
    ETHICS- 90

    CA CPA
    CMA

I would go ahead and become licensed in VA. According to http://www.cpamobiliy.org , you can practice in GA with a VA license and do not have to apply for reciprocity. You probably will want to verify it with the GA board but the site says that “individual mobility is available (with no further filing or fee) if you hold an active unrestricted CPA license in your principal place of business. “CPA license” means a CPA license granted by the state board after all education, exam and experience requirements have been met.”

As far as the AICPA ethics exam goes, you will have no problem passing it if you were able to pass the CPA exam.

    Good luck

    REG - 11/5/2012 - 80
    BEC - 1/17/2013 - 76
    AUD - 2/22/2013 - 70 4/5/2013 - 75
    FAR - 5/28/2013 - 75 - Done!!!

Question: What do you call someone who only gets 75's and 76's on the four parts of the CPA exam?

    Answer: A CPA
