I'm REALLY confused. I got my congratulatory letter from NJ and it doesn't say anything about ethics exam. I called NJ board of accountancy and they said NJ doesn't require ethics exam. I'm so confused because I remember people on this board and other CPA boards saying it is. Can someone help????n

Eva80- An ethics exam is not required in all states. I am from Indiana and Indiana does not require an ethics exam to be licensed. The CPA exam maybe be a uniform test but the requirements to be eligible to take it are not. Likewise the experience and licensure requirements are not uniform as well. Feel fortunate that you do not have to spend the $100+ dollars to purchase and pass the ethics exam. This process cost plenty without adding additional cost like an ethics exam especially since ethics is part of the CPA exam.n

As others have said, not all states required it. However, the exam is a complete joke by comparison to the CPA exam.n
