I took a class called Leadership and Professional Skills for Accountants…shouldn’t that be the same as Accountants’ Professional Responsibilities? Maybe they missed it on my transcripts?

CBA said I need either accounting ethics or accountants’ professional responsibilities…Same thing or not? @Jeff?

I don't know. Judging by the name of the class, I can see why some people might be a little iffy about applying that toward “ethics” or “responsibilities.” You could get the course description from your school and send it to CBA for reconsideration, but I wouldn't place high hopes at getting those credits applied toward “ethics” requirement.

the description of what I took is as follows:

Through practice and multiple assessments, this course focuses on the knowledge and development of managerial skills needed to advance in the accounting profession. The skills emphasized in the course include: written and oral communication, critical thinking, problem solving, leadership, teamwork, managing change and conflict, negotiation, networking and delegating.
    Prerequisites: BUS 3050, Graduate Standing

I guess I'll wait and see what they say. One can hope!

That have nothing to do with Ethics. For example Foothill College description of ethics class is “Study of professional ethics for accounting from a business perspective in context of financial statement frauds, such as Enron. Topics include nature of accounting, ethical behavior in accounting, ethical theory, rules of the code of conduct, ethics of tax accounting and ethics of the auditing function” It basically needs to be about ethics and not how to be professional etc.

Yeah, not really ethics or professional responsibilities (in the context of duties per accounting law or AICPA code of professional conduct, etc.). The course description makes it sound like it's more about how to establish and advance a career in accounting. That said, let them decide. You never know when you will catch someone who just doesn't feel like doing their job that day. Hopefully they say it will suffice!

yeah, I didn't think they would grant me an extension on BEC the 4th time I failed FAR, either. But they did, and I sat for it (and passed) on the date they granted me. So it's worth a try. Also, I sent over the syllabus (my friend actually still had the syllabus!). It says ethics in the objectives… here they are:

Objectives: This course will introduce the student to time and stress management. Students will also assess their skill levels in teamwork, problem solving, managing conflict, managing change, negotiating, delegating, leadership, and ethics.

Odds are they won't allow it, but if you don't ask you don't get! I would have had to not only retake FAR after my last fail, but I would have been taking BEC which I passed with an 80 on the first try, again if I had not asked them for an extension.
