Ethic Exam – Time Requirements

Does anyone have a ballpark time requirement for the Ethic Exam (both the test and suggested study time)? I just ordered it and was hoping to be able to finish it quickly. Is it something that can be done in a day or should I allot a week or two to study the material? Is it open-book? How long do they give you to take the exam once you begin the exam?

    Thanks!n

I took in '08 and it was 3 1/2 hours then, but I have since heard it is shorter and easier. I took the time to do the full course on the cd. It took me a few weekends working 60 hours a week with travel. I have heard people that do it in a few hours more recently. I hope this helps. It has been awhile now I hate to give bad information. :O)n

What is the website you can submit the ethics exam answers on-line? I received the book and a scantron sheets to submit the answers, but I would rather do it online so I know right away but the materials do not say anything about being able to submit it online and I cannot find it on the AICPA website.n

I finished mine in about 2-4 hours. I did the CD so I could do it at work and it's interactive so you don't have to read as much. I suggest keeping the questions open or printed off and go through the “lectures”. The questions are in sequential order to the lecture. Some are a little difficult to find, but they are all there–I only missed one.

Address to submit them online is: https://cpegrading.aicpa.org/ You will need the course number 738394 and your unique serial number.n

Thanks Wein8! That is very helpful info. When you say 2-4 hours, is that the time you spent to study on the exam or the exam itself? Sorry to bother you but we have very little info available on this forum regarding the ethics exam. Thanks!n

    Wein8,

When you say it took you 2-4 are you referring to the test alone or the entire ethics section (reading, review, and exam)?n

I didn't review or read anything. I opened the CD and had the test opened in PDF. I went through the lectures in order and realized that the questions were in the order of the lectures. I skipped over parts that weren't on the exam and simply searched for the answers. You can do it however you want, but I think you should be able to get it done in an afternoon or morning. If you are wanting to go through everything, then I'm sure it will probably take you longer.n

Most of the questions are pretty obvious and you should be able to recall the answers from coursework or CPA exams. I wouldn't worry about it b/c it is open note and nonstressful.n

I took the ethics exam earlier this morning and it was a total breeze. I ordered the CD course, which is basically just a bunch of interactive powerpoint slides. I think there is some voice-over or narration, but I didn't have my headphones so I'm not exactly sure.

I'd give the exam about two hours and you should pass with flying colors. Just open the test and read at the same time. Now the eternal wait for REG scores to post…n
