I have a question regarding the the education requirements in Massachusetts and am hoping someone can provide some insight. I know my issue is kind of specific, so any help would be greatly appreciated.

I passed the CPA this past February. I have the work experience so all I am missing is the education requirements. I’ve been taking some classes and after this semester I will be ONE CREDIT SHORT of the 150. However, while I was an undegrad student, I transferred from a four year college to another four year college. During the transfer, I lost 3 credits that are not reflected on my final graduating transcript. I guess my question is; Do those 3 credits still count? Could I possibly apply for my license at the end of this semester?

Has anyone encountered this before. Again, any insight would be greatly appreciated. I’ve tried emailing NASBA and have not heard back. I guess my next step would be to call. I just wanted to see if anyone else has run into this.

    Thanks again!!

I cant speak for Mass. but here in NY I lost 13 credits when I transferred and I called the Board and they said it was OK. Im guessing that it wouldn't be a problem as long as you didnt take a class that was very similar to the one that didnt transfer. My advice is to just call your state board.

If those three credits are the accounting course requirement, you may have to find a class to meet the 150 rule.

    It begins with a 75

Those 3 credits you're missing can affect your application for licensure.

It is highly advisable to call the board or nasba to clear things up.

MA requires you to have 150hrs including some specific accounting and business course requirements.

Go to accountingedu.org and familiarise yourself with MA CPA licensurerequirements.

Thanks for all your advice. I'm pretty sure I have all the actual accounting, law, ethics, etc. classes that are required. I was an accounting major in undergrad so that takes care of those requirements. On top of that, I'm working on an MSA, so all subsequent credits post-undegrad have been towards a masters in accounting.

Can't you just send in the other transcript, too? And write them a note that there's a class on the one transcript that isn't on the other?

    AUD 84 (1/9/14-Wiley books/TB + free materials)
FAR 83 (5/21/14-the above + NINJA 10 Pt Combo Lite)
    REG 84 (7/9/14-Wiley books/TB + NINJA Audio/FC/Notes)
    BEC 76 (10/5/14-Wiley books/TB + NINJA Audio/FC)

I suppose I could. I just don't know if the credits for that class will be recognized. I will have to call them.
