i looked into CLEP and I already had a BS and was not enrolled in any university actively pursuing a degree (ie masters) i could not go the CLEP route. I wanted to but couldnt find any schools that would accept CLEP results and give me units from their accredited university.
So I went the Foothill route. Did 3 classes online last quarter, all while working tax season which was rough. Thankfully I took really easy classes for me. Taking 3 more now that I just started last week. Bear in mind I only needed units to meet the 150 requirement…I had all of the coursework met already other than the ethics in accounting class that was added as a requirement after I graduated with my BS (back in 2006, so lots changed since then, including the 150 unit requriement).
I found the ethics class to be pretty easy. I also took the excel and quickbooks classes that FH offers and those were easy peasy units.
Now I am doing the fraud examination, accounting for small business, and payroll accounting classes. I have yet to crack the book in any of them, and find them all incredibly easy so far. I have 12 years of public accounting experience tho so they might be easy in large part due to my experience level.
I have spent about 1,200 so far between tuition and books and it will have taken me 6 months but I will have knocked out 29 quarter units in that span without putting much work into it.
For the classes I took during busy season I literally did zero homework / quizzes for two full weeks when shit was real busy and still managed to get an A and 2 Bs.
Good luck to you.
