    Hi everyone,

so I have a quick question,

I am planning to be licensed in the New Jersey sate. I obtained my Associate degree from my community college with 63 credits.

60 out of 63 credits from there were transferred to Rutgers. And while I am at Rutgers, I had to take some classes such as Principle of Management, Principle of Marketing, Business Law I again to graduate from Rutgers even though I already took them at my community college to graduate from there also.

So the fact that those duplicate classes help me to obtain my Associate degree and my Bachelor’s degree, do those credits credits count toward my 150 credits?

Also, I am taking 18 credits at Rutgers and 6 credits from my old community college which means I am taking classes at 2 colleges at the same time. Am I allowed to do that?

Does anyone have experience with either of these situations? please help! I would really appreciate any inputs !

    Thank you!

Thanks everyone for giving me hope! 🙂

I would definitely ask if they don't count those credits since I have my Associtate degree. Luckily I think those 3 classes are the only duplicate ones, so I should be good for the accounting requirement.

I emailed the guy at NASBA but he takes forever to reply. I'll let you all know when he gets back to me. Hope for the best!

@HeartsMimiCPA: I am from Rutgers New Brunswick too! Go Knights!!! 🙂 hope you had a great experience wih AIS when you were here ( you know what I mean lol )

In Florida, duplicate classes don't count. Plus, they have to be upper division courses(3000+). For me, I have two courses left to fulfill my 150 hours. One of the courses I can take is Govt/NFP but I have no idea what I'm going to do for the last one. I have taken almost every course I can find at the undergraduate level at schools in my area. My alma mater offered so many courses in accounting and I took almost all of them except Tax II, Audit II, and Govt/NFP, which I regret not doing now. If I could do distance learning with those classes, I'll have it made. I'm sure they won't allow me to do it though.

Good luck to you on the classes.

I have no idea… Maybe try calling your state board?

@fsugirl – I'm thinking about taking the NPO & Gov class online from LSU. I work at a NPO so mostly because I know my employer will happily pay for that class and you can get it done in as little as 8 weeks, I read.

    FAR - 7/13 - 72, 11/13- 74, 2/14- 82!!! Best score ever (for me)!!!
BEC - 1/14 - 75!!! Perfect score! First Pass! YAY!!!
    AUD - 8/14 - 80!!!
    REG - 5/14 - 72, 10/14 - 66, 1/15 - 78 - DONE FOREVER!!!
I did 5 of the UNA and CPAExcel classes to earn units.

I'm definitely leaning toward taking the LSU course. My local university doesn't offer a large variety of accounting courses like my alma mater. They will probably allow me to take a master's accounting course as a transient student.

All I can say is that I went to like 10 colleges to get my Bachelors. First my Associates at a private music school & gen eds from there came from a CC. Then 4 years later went back for my Bachelors. Attended 6 CC, plus the main university. The CC are all part of the same “California Community College” district, or whatever. My last semester was at the University & my last spanish class at a CC.

I would think those credits count for your “150 units”, but perhaps you won't fulfill all the subject requirements within those 150 units, if that makes sense. I am having that issue as well. I have 151 but perhaps I am missing 3 credits within the “Business” area. I believe I can squeeze by though with everything I need.

    AUD: 84
    REG: 84
    BEC: 79
    FAR: 83

So this is what the State board says about my situation

“The NJ Board of Accountancy only accepts duplicate courses towards the total college credit hours and only if they are listed as earned hours on the same transcript.

So, if the Rutgers transcript does not list the Principles of Management/Marketing or Business Law I as transfer credit from the County College of Morris, then we would not be able to accept those courses twice.”

My problem is Rutgers only listed them as Associate Degree transfer credits without writing what courses are transferred but I assume they are transferred because I earned 63 credits on my Associate and 60 of them are transferred to Rutgers. Do you think I have a chance to appeal if they don't accept those credits?

    Thank you!
