    Hey there.

I’m done with all sections finally, and it feels great. BUT…………

I’m trying to apply for the CPA License currently, however, there are so many things to do before I can add those 3 alphabets before my name. Questions –

    1) What’s the best way to go about the Ethics Exam? Course material, registration? Pls guide me…

    2) I already had my education evaluated by WES under Alaska Board. Now I need to transfer my credits to Colorado to apply for my license. I’ve been told that I need to do the evaluation AGAIN under NIES or so for the “updated” evaluation. Is this true???? I’m surprised….

    3) I need to take extra courses to meet the requirements such as Auditing as I’ve done my education in India previously which didn’t have ‘GAAS’. Is there any best way to know which all courses Imma have to make up for?? I’m trying to save time….

Please help with your inputs… Thanks a lot.

    Cheers.

Well since you have already climbed the CPA mountain, now you can go climb Mt. Everest. Go skydiving. Bungee Jumping.

Relax, take a break, do something fun.

    1. https://www.cpa2biz.com/AST/Main/CPA2BIZ_Primary/Ethics/PRDOVR~PC-732302/PC-732302.jsp#.U5ixk0rD_jo

Go to the bottom of the page. Buy it. Complete it, send it in, get your passing score. Hold onto the score until it's time to apply for licensure because you'll submit that score with the work experience form and application.

    2. No clue

    3. I'd call up your state board of accountancy and tell them you want to email your transcripts to a board rep for clarification on what courses you still need to meet the requirements for licensure. They'll be able to tell you what you have and what you need. Maybe not immediately, but they'll get an answer for you. While you're on the phone with them, ask about your second question as well.

I used to be in one state and passed my exams there. Now I'm in another state which requires different credit hours, so my scores doesn't even get transferred. I'll have to do it through reciprocity.

people can't really answer your questions due to the different state requirements. the best way is to call and call again to verify what they said is consistent.

Yes you have to speak to you States as they are all different.

I was thinking of moving from CA to CO as CO doesn't have the 150 requirement yet but they have other requirements and it jumping through more hoops to avoid the other hoops.

So I am sticking with CA and bridging the Gap of my 150 credits. Its not so bad since they don't require a masters.

    @kenada

So in CO they don't need 150 Credits yet. They need 120 credits and what else do they need. Further after you get licensed in CO, and wish to transfer to NJ , will NJ accept the lack of 150 credits that was accepted by CO. I know it is a convoluted question, any thoughts would be welcome.

I have the 150 hour requirement done in OH. Do I need to take an ethics class? What are the next steps? I work when my state board is in the office sadly. Please help!

h0wdyus = If you move to CO and get your license there – to then move back to NJ – the NJ state won't accept your license because you don't meet the criteria.

So if you want to have you license for NJ – best get your credits to 150.

That is why I am staying with CA and since my exams never expire now I can in theory take as long as I want to get licensed.

Of course I won't take long, I will work as fast as I can to get the credits and since I can do them at a community college that CA accepts and they have confirmed they will accept, I can do it cheaper by taking as many easy courses as I want since I have meet all the mandatory courses they want anyway.

CPAFuture11 I think you can get all the information you need online at the Ohio Website. Also you can email the board with your questions and I am sure they can help you.

    CPA Certificate and License Requirements

This section of the Web site contains information useful to candidates for the CPA certificate. For details concerning the documents required to obtain the CPA certificate, please refer to the section entitled CPA Certification Requirements and Procedure. If you wish to find out about CPA certificate and license requirements in other states, please consult our list of Accountancy Boards. Following are the general requirements for the CPA Certificate:

Successful completion of the CPA examination, or possession of a CPA certificate issued by another state.

Successful completion of a professional standards and responsibilities course that emphasizes the Ohio accountancy law and Board rules. If you hold a CPA certificate issued by another state, and passed an ethics examination or course required by that state, we will accept that state's ethics examination or course in lieu of the Board's required course.

Experience performing one or more services related to public accounting, as defined by Board rule.

    Original Ohio CPA certificate

Note: CPA Examination Services provides the Board with the CPA examination file. Unless specifically requested, the CPA exam grades, and transcripts need not be sent to the Board with the CPA certificate application.

    Required criminal records check.

Passing grades on the CPA examination (provided to the Board by CPA Examination Services).

Official college transcript(s) showing completion of 150 semester hours of college credit (provided to the Board by CPA Examination Services).

Application for Original Ohio Certificate of Certified Public Accountant (PDF file).

Record of Experience Form (PDF file; more than one may be needed).

Statement of Verifying CPA (PDF file; required only if your supervisor on the Record of Experience Form is not a CPA).

A course in professional standards and responsibilities (PSR) that emphasizes the Ohio accountancy law and Board rules. Proof of course completion must be sent to the Board. Link to Board-approved PSR courses

Proof of Ohio residence if you did not sit for the CPA examination as an Ohio resident candidate (Examples: notarized copy of your Ohio driver license, notarized copy of your lease/mortgage, or notarized letter from your Ohio employer stating that you work full-time in Ohio).

Okay, this topic is swaying from my original questions actually :P.. The ethics questions is answered, but for the others, let's try again..

    1) I already had my education evaluated by WES under Alaska Board. Now I need to transfer my credits to Colorado to apply for my license. I've been told that I need to do the evaluation AGAIN under NIES or so for the “updated” evaluation. Is this true???? I'm surprised….

    2) I need to take extra courses to meet the requirements such as Auditing as I've done my education in India previously which didn't have ‘GAAS'. Is there any best way to know which all courses Im gonna have to make up for??When I asked NASBA, they said they would only let me know once I send my application through. Is there any other way? I'm trying to save time….

    3) For any extra course that I'd have to take, would it qualify if it's an undergrad course? Or does it specifically need to be a graduate course?

This license process is so complicated….. :((

    1. Yes – every state has its own evaluation process

    2. The best way is for the State to evaluate your courses and usually they only do the when apply for the license.

3 . You need to ask the State that question directly or by doing Step 2 they will answer that question for you. Also you can Email them and ask them directly.

Remember every state has its own processes and own requirements.

Kenada – thanks a lot. For the first point about evaluation again of my courses – even though every state has its own requirements, both CO and AL accept WES evaluation.

So my evaluation should work for CO right? Or do you mean to say that CO will evaluate the courses in a different way than AL did???

If they have the same evaluation company then you can have WES just re-send the evaluation to CO. I recommend you find out the exact process from CO

“I want to apply for the Colorado CPA license, but I sat and passed the Exam in another state other than Colorado. How do I transfer my CPA grades?

You will need to submit the Authorization for Interstate of Exchange of Examination and Licensure Information Form to the State Board where you sat and passed the Exam and/or request online at NASBAstore dot org”

Is there a fee associated with the “Authorization of Interstate Exchange” form?

Some states require a fee for verification of your CPA scores and license information. Please check our fee chart to see if your state requires a fee before you send the form to the verifying board of accountancy. NASBAstore.org charges $25 for such verification”

I don't know what WES policy is meaning how long they hold records for. Example – CA has GEGS as one of its evaluators. GEGS only holds records for 6 months and if I needed them to send another evaluation I have to get all my transcripts re-sent and pay the fees to re-evaluate.

So you need to see what WES policy is and go from there.
