Did you Frame your CPA Certificate???

I’m just wondering if I was the only one that went a little overboard when they finally received their CPA Wall Certificate. I purchased custom made frames for my CPA Wall Certificate, AICPA Certificate and State CPA Society Certificate. I spent around $700 on all three of them. After two years of studying and thousands of dollars on exam fees and prep courses, I couldn’t just buy three $14.99 frames. I had to go all out. I’m just curious if anyone else felt the same way when they received their wall certificates.

    REG - 74, Retook 6/10/16, scored a 72 (Hate this exam)
    BEC - 69, 79, 8/1/15
    AUD - 83, 4/4/15
    FAR - 77, 2/27/16

My CPA certificate and Master's degree are happily in my office in $15 Walmart frames 🙂

I wouldn't spend $700 but will get custom frame for sure. It's gonna be a good day when I hang that thing up.

I've thrown out every diploma and degree certificate I've ever gotten, and even I'm thinking about framing my CPA certificate. Mostly because I work in industry – everyone knows I have a bachelors or I wouldn't have my job, but the CPA designation is rare and no one below middle management has one. I'll make do with a storebought frame though. 🙂

I'll be framing mine with a $15 frame from Amazon.

I haven't framed it yet, but plan on doing so soon, definitely will be buying a $15 frame lol. My only dilemma is that we have an open office environment, so not sure where I will put it.

When I get mine eventually, there will be copies made and framed in every room I enter.

I purchased a sweet frame from Michael's for about $40 to frame my license. Definitely isn't as nice as a custom frame but it will do.

I probably threw out the AICPA and State Society certificates because those are pretty much worthless. I say “probably” because I have no idea where they are in my house.

@Jen J – You threw away your diplomas? I've legitimately needed to show mine to people before…

My CPA license will go in a $15 frame for sure. I'm very frugal, as I think most accountants are.

Regardless of whether or not I want to (but seriously – of course I do because of all of the time, and blood, sweat, and tears that has gone into this exam process) my boss will…not necessarily require, but politely request that I hang my credentials in my office. When I started he asked me to hang my degrees, even though I felt like they were a means to an end and something I didn't really work that hard for so I didn't want to display them. My degrees hang in cheap frames from Michaels, and I'll probably go the same route and get a matching frame for my certificate. I can't wait for that day!

I got mine back in Aug and it is somewhere in the back of my closet in its tube, unopened.
Everyone at my office has theirs proudly hanging from their office wall. Since I am the only one without an office (work in a cubicle) I rather not even bring it into the office. Maybe I should open it just to verify that all the information is correct.

Seems you guys got larger certs. Here in NJ with what is basically a 5×7 index card.

I thought about framing it until I saw how bland it was. A colleague of mine has an official looking one from Ohio on parchment paper. The thing looks like the Declaration of Independence. But the Michigan version is a small, cheap paper printout.

Maybe one day if I happen to walk by frames in the store, it will jog my memory and I’ll buy one. But until then it will sit in the filing cabinet that I put it in… It’s not as if I’m discounting the accomplishment. Believe me I would never do that. The CPA exam consumed over a year of my life. But that crappy certificate was certainly anticlimactic… wouldn't hang it up at work tho. I find that to be a bit smug. Not judging those who do, that's just not me.

    FAR - 75 November 2015
    REG - 69 April 2016 (WTH? Test I got isn't what I studied for)
    BEC - 81 June 2016
    AUD - TBD

I have heard rumors that those who are in Colorado will scan their certificate.

Then they use the original to roll up a huge joint and then smoke that sucker.
