Crime conviction on application

In the hopes that I pass the exam tomorrow, I’m completing the paper work for NJ. There are two questions about being arrested and convicted of a crime. In 2008, I was picked up for public drunkeness and disorderly conduct. I believe one of the charges was dropped and the other I had to pay a fine for. I’m nervous to answer these questions with a YES. Anyone else had issues with these questions? How did you handle them?

    BEC - 77 - Passed (Becker)
    FAR - 79 - Passed (Becker)
    AUD - 73, 82 - Passed (Becker)
    REG - 67, 89 - PASSED (Becker + Ninja + Wiley Test Bank)

I would suggest going to an attorney and have them conduct a search on your criminal record (the same one that the NJ board of accountancy uses). If any of these charges were expunged they should not show up on your records. If one or more does show up on your record, you should discuss with the attorney on how to get them expunged. I believe in NJ you do not have to reveal any expunged criminal charges to the NJ board of accountancy.

Hi! I actually had to tell the VA BOA about a criminal conviction that happened in 2010 (sort of similar to yours) before I could even sit for the exam. They accepted my application but basically they would check up on me again once I applied for the actual license. They'll run it either way, but if it happened in 2008, I'm sure you're fine. VA is super strict with stuff, so if I can get through it, I'm sure you will too.

    AUD - 77!!!
    FAR - 71, 73, 72, 73, 77!!! DONE!
    BEC - 75!
    REG - 75!
