CPE credits ahead of Licensure?

In a few days, I’ll be attending a conference that provides CPE credits. I still have BEC left to pass, though I’m pretty sure I’ll be done this year.

Is it possible to get CPE credits before I’m licensed?

Yep. I think they have to be earned within a year of getting licensed.

    AUD: 84
    BEC: 76
    FAR: 81

I believe it is going to depend on your state, and I recommend you contact your state board. I believe there are many states in which the CPE must be earned between the licensure date and the renewal date.

It depends on the state. I was licensed in October 2014, and I can't start accumulating CPE credits until July 1, 2015.

In California I was told I have to wait until licensure. I attended 2 full days of cpe eligible training before I passed my last part. I called the board to ask.

    FAR - 7/13 - 72, 11/13- 74, 2/14- 82!!! Best score ever (for me)!!!
BEC - 1/14 - 75!!! Perfect score! First Pass! YAY!!!
    AUD - 8/14 - 80!!!
    REG - 5/14 - 72, 10/14 - 66, 1/15 - 78 - DONE FOREVER!!!
I did 5 of the UNA and CPAExcel classes to earn units.

Huh, didn't realize that…as always, call your board to make sure. I know OK allows CPE to count for “365 days preceding licensure.”

I sent an email out yesterday, but received an automated response about being backlogged, so I figured to call instead. The person that answered was so extremely nice and helpful!

For NY, CPE credits are required after three years of initial licensure because they figure that you did all that studying already, so more education isn't necessary for a little while. I'm pretty happy about that.

She also pointed me to the website:

And also to another website where I can lookup the registration status of my supervisors who would be signing off on my experience:
