CPA s done. What next?

    have cleared all four sections of CPA..

    n

    Had some questions

    n

    1) do i need a membership number for working as a CPA?
    n2) Is ethics exam compulsory or just required if I need a license
    n3) Since i am registered from CO can i take up a job in other states? If no is there any requirement whihc i need to fulfill?
    n4) And will i be getting a certificate or something after clearing all exams?

    1) Yes you need a number but you should get one when you get licensed. You don't, however need to provide it to people when working unless they request it.
    n2) Since you're in CO, yes you have to take the ethics exam
    n3) Yes you can take a job in another state, but if you want to “Hold yourself out as a CPA” a.k.a. use “CPA” in your title. You need to look up reciprocity agreements, (although I'm pretty sure CO has no agreements or not very many) and look up substantial equivalency for whatever state your looking to work in
    n4) Its up to your state, in my state (Indiana) you have the option to buy a certificate but nothing is provided.n

    Auditdrivingcrazy – I agree with Schus responses. You really need to contact your state board. Every state pretty much sets there own rules.

    Schus – You are so correct. Indiana provides absolutely nothing. I received an email saying congratulations and by the way here is your license number. Anything else cost.n

    Yeah, agreed. Cheapest regular sized certificate in a frame is $75. Its like, “congrats on passing, you want something to show for it? It'll cost you”n
