Hello everyone! I’d like your thoughts on this…
I passed the CPA exam recently and am applying for the CPA license in NY State. My undergrad, MA in Economics (equivalent of MBA here) is from Russia. I graduated from a 150-hours MS in Accountancy program in the US.
The application for CPA license has Form 2 that you need to complete if you:
(a) completed all or part of your undergraduate or graduate studies CLAIMED FOR LICENSURE outside the US;
(b) completed all parts of the CPA exam in another state.
This form has to be sent to the school in Russia, completed by them and returned to NYS Education Dept in Albany. Anyone who ever tried to get their transcripts from Russia knows what a hassle it is. I’m also thinking what’s the Education Dept going to do with all the papers in Russian when they get them? :-/
I was wondering if I even need to complete this form? My US accounting program (NY State registered program) accepted my Russian diploma, which was evaluated by ECE and by the school. I have an American Master’s degree in Accountancy which I CLAIM FOR LICENSURE (just using their wording… THIS IS the program that qualifies me for the CPA). I have 34 accounting credits and 10 business credits on my transcript, the business school also waived a lot of classes upon reviewing my undergrad transcript (calculus, micro- and microeconomics, finance, management, operations management and statistics).
Do you think I should try to submit my application without bothering with the Russian transcripts? Has anyone have similar experience?
Thank you!!!
