Hi,
I completed the CPA exam and completed one busy season at a CPA firm at the beginning of 2013. After the single busy season, I left the firm to go work at a startup where I got great accounting experience but no CPA to sign off on my hours. The start-up got acquired and I received a good chunk of cash but am looking to go back to work under a CPA to finish out the experience requirement. Can I ask the old firm to send in my forms for my attestation hours now and the Board will just keep it on file? Or do I need to wait until I have ALL of my hours done (hopefully in 2014)?
I’m just asking because I am afraid the old firm will think my work experience with them was too long ago and will not sign or my old manager will leave the firm and will be hard to track down. Also, if I can just get that done now, then I don’t have to do it later.
Thanks
