I thought the Illinois timeline post was a good idea, so I figured I’d do one for CT.

5/3/13 – Received final exam score (exam 4/19/13)

5/4/13 – Mailed license application to CT BOA (Ethics exam, experience verification, and transcripts had all been provided to the CT BOA in the December 2012-March 2013 time frame)

7/1/13 – NASBA submitted exam scores to CT BOA (CT is one of those states where NASBA only submits completed exam scores once a quarter)

7/1/13 – Received congratulatory letter from NASBA for exam completion

7/1/13 – License application approved by CT BOA and License # issued (it was only this quick because they already had everything else they needed and I have all public experience – in CT, if you have experience other than public, your license must be approved at the next Board Meeting)

I’m still waiting on my written license approval letter/package in the mail from the CT BOA, but I was told I could expect to see it next week. Then I will just be waiting on my paper certificate. If I remember to come back and update those date, I will.

Congrats on being licensed! I'm from CT too.

Just to clarify, I'll be able to send in my various application items (transcripts, experience verification, etc.) at different times right? For example, next month I'll be completing all my requirements except for experience, which won't be completed for another 2 years. Can I send the CT BOA everything except my experience verification and then just send that in 2 years?

    AUD - 11/30/12 - 89
    REG - 1/17/13 - 89
    FAR - 5/28/13 - 87
    BEC - 7/18/13 - 89

    Done!

Thanks!! and yes, you can do it in pieces.

I did the ethics exam mid-December and AICPA reports the score to CT basically immediately. I also requested transcripts mid-December so the Board would have received them from the schools a week or 2 later. Then in March I had my firm send my experience verification in since I was well-past the 2 year requirement.

The only catch with sending things early is that they seem to lose things. I had to re-request all my transcripts in May because they could find 2 that had been sent to them. A girl on my audit team had to ask the AICPA to re-send her ethics exam score because they couldn't find it when her license application showed up a couple months later.

Whenever you send your application in, you can find yourself on this website: https://www.elicense.ct.gov/Lookup/LicenseLookup.aspx If your name only appears once, it means your application is still pending. If it's been a couple weeks and the status hasn't changed, call them and make sure they have all the pieces. That's the only way I knew they were missing transcripts.

You just have to keep on top of it once you submit your materials.
