It seems like there’s plenty of information about what to expect before and during the exams, but very little for after you’ve passed the exams. I received my last score on 12/16/16 and am in TN where we have to wait for NASBA’s congratulatory letter before we can submit our TN initial application.

I saw on NASBA’s website that the letters for the October/ November window should be sent by January 15th. Does anyone know if the 10-day extension of the window will affect this? Has anyone gotten the letter yet?

It’s so hard being patient; we spend so long trying to pass these exams and then it’s almost anti-climactic because we have to wait so long to get licensed.

I'm in OH. I got my passing score on 11/21. Letter was received on 12/10, mailed everything to the Board around the same time. OH Board emailed me yesterday and told me I will be licensed on 1/16. I did not call NASBA, and seems they did a pretty good job! Hope you get everything straighten out quickly!

Submitted my TN application online this morning! Hopefully this process is fast – I've heard of anywhere from a few days to a few weeks.

@Supergirl, thank you. I have checked all the items in the list per the link you kindly provided. Since NASBA congratulatory letter is not on the list i was wondering if i need one to obtain the WA license (i keep hearing from others that some states require the letter)

For those who have passed their last exam during March 2018, have you received the congratulatory letter? I know it says we should receive by April 15th.

CPA_2018: I've been waiting on my letter as well (I received my passing score on March 9, 2018). Seeing that the 15th is a Sunday, I wouldn't be surprised if we see it a week from today…but that's my cynical side speaking. I'm really hoping to see it this week since I don't think it will feel real until I have the letter in hand. Then I can start the whole filing process.

I'm curious to know if anyone else has seen it yet?

I've never heard of a congratulatory letter? Although that would be nice! I'm in WV and fortunately we don't need to take an ethics course after passing the exam. I don't know how you guys do it in other states, but I sent in my initial license application to WVBOA over 2 weeks ago and I've been checking my email and the state board website like crazy! I know other states are like a 6 month wait for the license, but that is ridiculous! It should be an immediate licensing after taking all 4 of those horrendous tests!

In most states, the congratulatory letter gives instructions on how to get the license. But in the non-CPAES states, I'm not quite sure what you do there. Sorry @megan, I'm afraid you don't get congratulated 🙁 since WV is not on the list (see bottom of page at the following link). You still get my congratulations!!

Bummer! Would really like some validation – not that I don't appreciate your congratuations @PianoCPA! 🙂 I'm going crazy over here, and trying not to drive the WVBOA crazy too!!!

So I've been doing tax and bookkeeping for over 20 years, should I ask the local CPA to sign off on my experience or will my state consider my years?
I feel like I should pass the test first then worry but I am curious. Is it something I need get done now or wait?

    It begins with a 75

No congratulatory letter yet, in PA.

Was told late last week PA board is on about a 6 week delay.

I am in Mississippi, and I found out my last score on 3/7, I emailed the State Board on 3/8 to see if I needed to wait for my congratulatory letter before I filled out my application and they said no. They sent me instructions of what I needed to do next and filled out my application online and submitted it on 3/8. I completed the information for my background check and my boss sent in my work experience information on 3/9. I followed up the next week to see of they needed any additional information and they said no the Board would meet on 3/23 and I would receive a letter in the mail the week following the board meeting. On 3/23 they approved my license. The funny part is I received my congratulatory letter the same day they approved my license.
