Confused- Licensing between NJ and NY

Okay, so assume I have taken and passed all the exams under the NY State Board of Accountancy.

I worked for 9 months in New York before I moved permanently back to NJ. It is my understanding that I cannot get licensed in the state of NY as I cannot have a NY CPA certify I have 1 full year of NY experience.

Now that I am in NJ, I will have to become licensed in NJ. In looking at the education requirements (bearing in mind I’ve been approved to take the exams under the state of NY requirements, and assuming passed all the exams), I do not have two of the courses NJ lists as required (i.e. business law 2 and governmental accounting). So, in order to apply in NJ, I will need to do the following:

    1) Take both courses

    2) Wait until the 1 year mark to apply for an NJ license

Is my interpretation correct? Since I can’t become initially licensed in NY and transfer it to NJ via mobility (because although I meet the education requirements in NY, I do not meet the licensing requirement of experience), I would have to get my initial license in NJ which would take me back to the education requirements… I have 150 credits and the number of courses in each subject area, but not those two specific courses. I did call NJ and they told me in order to have my case considered I needed to apply for licensure, which I can’t do until the 1 year mark anyway, but I don’t want to waste the next 8 months and not take the classes I need…

The fact that this still isn’t uniform blows my mind, but if anyone has any advice, I would appreciate it!

    FAR - 66, 71, 76!
    AUD - 75
    REG - 82
    BEC - 83

    DONE.
