    Hi all,

this question might have been asked before but I am wondering if anybody knows what’s the cheapest way to fullfill the 150 credit requirement. I have 131 currently so need 19 more credits. I don’t care about what kinda of classes they are just need them to be accepted by the AICPA. I guess they would have to be regional accredation? Not sure how that works. Anyway does anybody know of a website or online college that I can utilize to meet this requirement?

    Thanks in advance

    |FAR| - 72, 83
    |AUD| - 73, 76
    |REG| - 76
    |BEC| - 73, 82

    ALL DONE!!

The state approves and issues your CPA license, not the AICPA (know that for REG!)

Specific educational requirements vary by state, so get info from your state board of accountancy. In California, units do not need to be upper division — aka, you can take community college classes. By far the cheapest option for me was to take online community college classes, plus the Board of Governors waiver will refund all your tuition fees if you make less than $50k (at least that's how it was a few years ago).

    REG: (May 2014) - 80 ✔
    AUD: (Nov 2014) - 93 ✔
    FAR: (Oct 2014) - 71, (Jan 2015) - 88 ✔
    BEC: (Feb 2015) - 89 ✔

Is there a state that does not require the 150 hours? Im in Florida, but trying to get my license though Colorado, which is the only state i know that does not require the 150 hrs, but this will change after July of next year. I do not not care about getting the extra hours, but I might have to care next year if I dont pass all 4 parts.

    check out https://em-study.com/emsfema/

they are FEMA EMI independent courses that you can convert to college credit. Each test is worth 1 credit. (approximately 10-50 questions per test)

Each credit can be converted to Fredrick Community College for $80/credit.

my coworker did this. He needed 30 credits. cost him about 2 grand and finished everything in 2 and half weeks.

the credits are accepted by NASBA as he just got his CPA license last week.

I'm at 146 (143 Under, 3 Grad). I just called my college to see if I could take a CLEP to get to 150, they said that I need to be enrolled in the school.

    Thoughts?

I just called the college, apparently it's a lot easier to re enroll than I thought it would be. I just have to fill a form out.

Before I decided to get my masters, I took classes at community college over 2 summers ($77/credit). I took basketball, tennis and golf (2 credits each). I was in fantastic shape!

    B-passed! (4/2013). Lost Credit. Passed again (3/2015)
    A-passed! (2/2014)
    R-passed! (8/2013). Lost Credit. Passed again (6/2015)

Sorry for the bump, but I just wanted to share my update.

I re-enrolled with my College (just had to fill a form out online) and registered to take a CLEP. I am at 146 credits, so I needed to take at least 4 credits. My plan was to take a basic math class and a basic business class on the same day. Turns out the center wouldn't let me take two on the same day and their last day to test is Dec 23. I begin work on Jan 5 and will receive a bonus if I have 150 when I begin. So I decided to take English Literature for 6 credits. I knew some of the material already, but I studied for 2 hours the day before (while watching the Broncos lose on MNF). I should have studied more, but I took the exam yesterday and got a 50. Which is exactly what I needed to get the credit.

I guessed on a lot of questions; at least half. I didn't take any literature classes in college and I somehow managed to pull out a passing grade. So I'm really happy right now.

JaySt, I have 120 Credits and Im under Colorado's jurisdiction. In case I dont meet the deadline of July 1, 2015, do you know if they accept CLEP courses to meet the remaining 30 credits i need? Do they only accept certain courses?

    Thanks in advance!

Has anyone else had any experience with the FEMA EMI independent courses? I'm very seriously considering this but I'm afraid it's too good to be true.
