Does anyone on here know what exactly constitues the 3 year work experience for CFP license? They say 3 years relevant work experience, but are not very specific. I have worked for CPA firm for 6 years doing tax and audit. YOu could argue some tax planning. I called CFP board and they said they dont analyze that until after you pass exam. I am a CPA.

I am also wondering this. What i gathered when i researched it is you need some client interact and some advise of financial matters to clients. I guess a weak case could be made for tax planning, and maybe other accounting services you may provide, but I dont know if it would constitute qualified work experience.

If you have your cpa you can skip the mandatory classes and just take the test, but from what I looked at it would be best to take the classes. The material on the CFP exam isnt accounting but more of planning and investing. I would like to get the certification just because it interests me, not because it would necessarily increase the attractiveness of my resume.
