I just passed the last exam!!! I m a Candidate in Delaware under 120 hrs requirement. But I’m now living in NY and have no intention of moving. So I will definitely apply for a NY license. Since NY requires 150 hrs. I will need to go back to school before I can apply. Here is my question, should I apply for Delaware license in the mean while? Since I believed it doesn’t require work experience. (Not permit to practice, which requires experience if I’m not wrong). Or should I just wait until I got the 150 credit (I can probably fulfill it in one semester) and apply in NY only? Does having a Delaware license benefit me in anyway? I would really appreciate it if anyone can answer my question, provide more information or advice. Thank you so much in advance!!!

I would go ahead and get your license in Delaware if you still qualify. According to http://www.cpa.mobility.com, DE license holders can practice in NY and “Individual mobility is available (with no further filing or fee) if you hold an active unrestricted CPA license in your principal place of business. “CPA license” means a CPA license granted by the state board after all education, exam and experience requirements have been met.”

You might no longer quality because Delaware no longer has a 120 hour requirement. As of July 2012, they require 150 hours. I would check with the Delaware board and make sure that you are grandfathered in prior to sending in an application fee.

    REG - 11/5/2012 - 80
    BEC - 1/17/2013 - 76
    AUD - 2/22/2013 - 70 4/5/2013 - 75
    FAR - 5/28/2013 - 75 - Done!!!

Question: What do you call someone who only gets 75's and 76's on the four parts of the CPA exam?

    Answer: A CPA
