Hi, I’m currently a CPA candidate who’s trying to fulfill the experience requirement for the state of Virginia. I am currently seeking a job at a local college here in order to meet the experience requirement. According to the VBOA, the experience must be verified by a licensed active CPA. Does that mean that if I’m working in Academia, the dean of the school cannot sign off on my experience unless he/she is an active CPA?

They have to be a CPA. In my state it says experience must be verified by a CPA who held a current active license at the time of your work experience. I would check with your state board of accountancy specifically 🙂
