I passed the tests, completed the G experience and passed the ethics test, got fingerprinted…..so then I submitted my application for CPA license about 6 weeks ago, just received my 30 day status letter and have been informed that the requirements have changed and I have to take another ethics class. Apparently the requirements changed 1/1/17 which I was not aware of. The class must be ethics specifically for accountants or professional responsibilities specifically for accountants. I graduated in 2013 so this was not an issue while I was at school so did not look to take the class then. This is very disappointing. I am posting this A) So CA applicants who are not aware of this are aware before they submit their applications and B) To see if anyone else has this problem and to ask for suggestions on how best to go about meeting the new requirement

Foothill college offers this class online to help us all. Classes fill up fast. San Diego state extension also offers an online class. It's less time, more expensive. I think UCLA extension also offers it.

I just did the foothill class this quarter and it wasn't so bad.

I know someone who went through a similar ordeal. Its a pain in the ass, especially after going through all the crap you have been through just to get to where you are, then they just hit you with 3 more units. Like really? That's your difference maker in whether you are a CPA or not? I feel for you, but just bite the bullet one more quarter or semester or whatever it is. You've knocked out the hard part, this shouldn't be bad for you just annoying to have to wait longer.

If money is not a problem, take University of Phoenix online class. They have accounting ethics class for 3 semester units. It's a 6 weeks program, with a lot of writing assignments.
