    Hi guys,

I just passed all 4 parts of the CPA exam and worked for over a year at a CPA firm.
Does anyone know what I have to do now to get my license in CA?
I heard I need to take some sort of ethics exam and probably need to send a verification of employment to the state board w/ application fees (I’m guessing), but I can’t find out where I can purchase the ethics exam and where I send my check to and how much (can I pay online…??).
I’m kind of annoyed that this information is so hard to find, or maybe I’m really dumb.
Anyways, I live in CA. I am so confused. Please help? I would greatly appreciate it.

Now the real fun begins….jk, the hard part is over. But the next couple months will annoy you.

    1) Take ethics. You do it through CalCPA website so you'll have to create an account. It costs some money (I think like $50) and its a pain in the ass – you gotta get at least a 90 to pass and its freakin hard.

    2) Go to the DCA website and print out the application for CPA license and the instructions for it. It will walk you through what forms you need, etc. Fill out the application and mail it in. Try to include everything in it the first time to avoid delays, because one small flaw will cost you an additional 30 days at least.

    3) The CBA will send you status letters every 30 days until you've been cleared for your license and then you'll have to pay a pre-approval voucher and wait probably another 30 days to get licensed.

I sent in my initial application on 8/5/16 and am still waiting for my license. Everything has cleared and I paid my pre-approval voucher, but I'm still waiting for them to process that and issue me a number – its been over 4 months! I did have one hiccup with my boss not filling out the experience form properly the first time, so that did cost me some time. They really just drag their feet and it takes forever, but congrats on passing the CPA exam! That is a huge accomplishment!

    FAR - 80
    AUD - 82
    BEC - 80
    REG - 85

    ETHICS - 90
    EXPERIENCE - COMPLETE

    Thanks CPA2BEE!
Now I don't have to worry about missing any steps and not getting my license #.
I really hope it doesn't take months to get my license #… 🙁
